GRAND KNIGHT’S MESSAGE:

I would like to thank everyone who supported council activities throughout last year. Your hard work and dedication al-lowed us to win the Columbian Award which is awarded for conducting major programs in the Church, community, council, family, pro-life, and youth areas. A special thanks to organizer Brian Heitzman and all the Knights who helped with the coat drive for Shepherd’s Store-house. We collected 76 coats: 11 girls, 11 boys, 25 women, and 29 men. John DeChaud has served the council as Grand Knight for more than a year and a half. We are now in the last half of the fraternal year. We thank you for your responsible and capable lead-ership Worthy Grand Knight. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, we are "endowed" by the creator with unalienable rights --- life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We are charged with respect for all life from concep-tion to the natural end. Between these two extremes we must be concerned with the quality

of life. Much work is to be done-health care, education, immigration, just wages, prison reform, death penalty, abor-tion and many more. We have serious obligations. Fraternally, B.J. Henzler

Three of our Sir Knights participated in a Duck Hunt

provided by a parishioner (Roger Vincent) as an auction

item at this past year’s Fall Festival. The sale of the

trip provided $1,100.00 toward the auction proceeds.

Pictured at left with their “ducks” are Billy Lantrip,

Mike Anselmi and Gary Petermeier.

The Annual 4th Degree Holiday Party was

held at the Abbey Inn in Denton, on January

15th. Many Sir Knights and Ladies attended

having a wonderful time of fellowship, good

food and fun, in spite of the Cowboy’s loss

that afternoon.

A Founding Notion: Protecting the Breadwinner’s Income While jobs may be safer in 2016, accidents, injuries, and illnesses that can impact your ability to work still happen. Most, in fact, do not happen on the jobsite or place of employment. Did you know that a 2011 study revealed that more than 95 percent of the long-term disability claims on file were not work related? The Knights have always sought to protect members’ families from the “loss” of a breadwinner. I’m sure you know all about Father McGivney’s vision for our insur-ance program. But you may not know that Father McGivney also wanted to find a way to help members who couldn’t work because of an illness. After all, the “loss” of the breadwinner does not have to mean that person’s death; it can also mean the loss of the breadwinner’s income. Consider that loss for a moment. How would your family fare if a source of income suddenly stopped? Could a dual-income family manage on one income? What about young families with a working father and a mother who cares for the chil-dren? What if his income halted due to an accident or illness? I’ve heard some people say they have coverage at work, but too many aren’t sure what this coverage entails, how much income it would provide or for how long. Having this protection counts for something, certainly, but it isn’t “yours”; it’s pro-vided by the company for which you work at their discretion. It could be eliminated tomorrow. That’s where a personally-owned disability income insurance product, like Income Armor, comes into play. It can offer valuable income replacement in the event of an injury or illness. If you have a job, you must know about this coverage. Fraternally, Ray Huie, Field Agent 214-799-3480 [email protected]
