PHYSICS INVESTIGATORY PROJECT ON

RELAY AS AN OSCILLATOR

Page 3: Physics Investigatory Project on Relay as an Oscillator

A  relay  is  an  electromagne0c  switch.  Do  you  know  that  we  can  use  it  to  build  oscilla0ons?  Consider  there  are  two  LEDs.  First,  one  of  the  LEDs  glow  and  then  it  gets  OFF.  Then  the  second  LED  glows  and  it  goes  off.  Then  the  first  one  again  glows  and  the  cycle  repeats  itself.

In  this  circuit,  we  can  control  the  number  of  0mes  the  relay  gets  ac0vated  and  deac0vated  in  one  second.  This  circuit  uses

a  capacitor,  two  LEDs,  a  relay  and  a  momentarily  push  switch.  When  the  switch  is  pressed,  the  current  oscillates  between  LEDs,  due  to  which  they  glow  alternately.  A  clock  sound  is  heard  periodically.  We  can  also  modify  the  circuit  to  speed  up  the  oscilla0ons.

So,  get  ready  to  create  some  real  fast  oscilla0ons!
