ENGLISH LANGUAGE (English Paper – 1)
PAPER – II: PROJECT WORK (ISC – 2022)
Project work in class XI consists of assessment of candidates in Listening and Speaking
Skills which are to be assessed internally, by the School, during English course work and shown in the student’s report and school record.
Candidates are to be assessed in two projects, one on Listening Skills and one on Speaking Skills.
Details of assignments in two Projects Work on Listening and Speaking Skills are give below:
Listening Skills
An unseen passage of about 500 words is to be read aloud, twice, the first time at normal reading speed (about 110 words a minute) and the next time at a slower speed.
The passage may be taken from any novel, newspaper, magazine article, journal and so
on but not from an ICSE or ISC textbook. Students may make brief notes during the readings followed by answering objective type questions based on the passage, on the
paper provided.
Speaking Skills
Students are to be assessed through an individual presentation of about three minutes
followed by a discussion with the subject teacher, for another two or three minutes. Some of the themes which may be addressed are :
1) Narrating an experience
2) Giving directions or instructions on how to make or operate something
3) Providing a description 4) Giving a report
5) Expressing an opinion or a theme-based conversation.

ENGLISH LITERATURE (English Paper – 2)
Project - Topic Question: Who is Fritz? Does ‘Fritz’ play any role in the story by Satyajit Ray? Discuss.
Instructions
1. Length of the Answer – 1000 to 1500 words. 2. Cover the Project – Brown 3. It must be written in black ink only. No other coloured ink will be permitted for any reason
whatsoever. 4. It must contain only the following : 5. Introduction (it must introduce the story with a little information about the author); 6. The answer 7. A conclusion;
One or two (not more) relevant pictures may be added either in black-and-white or coloured
to be placed opposite the introduction page only.
There will be no marks for the pictures. However, your use of various literary aspects,
organisation, structure and presentation of the answer will be evaluated in detail.

PHYSICS ASSIGNMENT FROM THERMODYNAMICS
1) Calculate the degrees of freedom and the specific heat capacities for mono atomic, di atomic
and tri atomic gases.
2) Describe the Carnot’s cycle and explain all the process involved in it. Derive the expression of efficiency of the heat engine for the above cycle.
3) What do you mean by Isothermal and adiabatic process? Calculate the work done during
each of the process.
4) State and derive Fourier’s law of heat current.
5) State Newton’s law of cooling. Deduce it from Stefan’s law. Show with the help of a graph that
with increase of time the temperature of the body decreases exponentially with time.
6) State the Laws of spectral distribution in a blackbody. How is Wien’s distribution law
obtained from the displacement law and the fifth power law?
7) A boiler is made of 3 mm thick cu plate. The inner surface of the plate is coated with a layer of
tin of thickness 0.3 mm. The surface of the plate is 150 cm2. The outside temperature of the cu
plate is 700 ℃. Find the maximum amount os steam that can be produced per hour at
atmospheric pressure. The coefficient of thermal conductivities of copper and tin are 397 Wm-
1k-1 and 63 Wm-1k-1.
8) The time taken by a liquid to cool from 65℃ to 55 ℃ is 5 minutes and cools to 47℃ in the next
5 minutes. Find the room temperature and the temperature of the body after next 5 minutes.
Chemistry Project
Following is only suggested list of chemistry projects. Students may choose any one project of their choice out of these four.
