General Discussion
• The February agenda was approved as presented.
The committee set the next meeting dates, all beginning at 2:15pm – March 28, April 25, May 23, June 27
• The committee agreed to seek input regarding crossings and traffic issues in and
around UA from the campus community through Email Digest and emails to the CPAC and SEAC list-serv. The concerns will be compiled and forwarded to Mike Lupica prior to our March meeting which he will hopefully be able to attend.
• Dean Menzemer asked if there were overhead images of traffic intersections and if
so, he recommended that a request be submitted to UA transportation to check the numbers and conduct a study. Phil Allen motioned and Harvey Sterns seconded, to request a traffic expert from UA and the city engineering office conduct a traffic study. The motion passed unanimously.
• Steven Myers reported that paperwork has not come through yet to approve the Zook/Leigh Hall move that will take place this week. Harvey Sterns made a motion, seconded by Craig Menzemer, to approve the Zook/Leigh Hall move. The committee unanimously approved the motion.

Shawn Stevens will respond to both requests New Business: Updates from Stephen Myers
• Architect has been hired for the Buckingham work to fix the air conditioning, moving various departments and new meeting location for faculty senate.
• Institute for Human Science and Culture (Roadway Bldg) will have the new air handler delivered on March 8.
• Schrank bridge continues to be worked on. • The weather has affected construction on the addition to the CBA but goal is still to
be finished by end of May. • There were pipes that burst in the Polsky Building and Law School due to the
extreme temperatures last week. All repairs have been made. • The next biennium funding request will be focused on the Ayer/Crouse renovations.

General Discussion
• The October agenda was approved as presented.
Discussion was held on the topic of speeding in lot 6, submitted via Issue Brief. The membership agreed that the most expedient and cost-effective solution would be to re-install speed bumps along the parking lanes on the north and west sides of InfoCision Stadium.
Coach Dennis Mitchell of Track & Field e-mailed a copy of the “Back on Track” fundraising initiative for our review/endorsement. Discussion was held and we learned that the existing facility is not designed on the current metric standard in addition to the surface condition being unsafe for usage. This renders the facility unsuitable for practices as well as hosting events. The committee voted unanimously to support the initiative provided that the project is donor funded and not supported through the General Fund, similar to the baseball field replacement.
USG representatives inquired about sustainability efforts as well as mentioning the desire to sponsor new bottle filling water coolers. Installation costs will be reviewed and shared at our next meeting. There was further discussion regarding Perfect Plastics and where the initiative could be housed and who would sponsor it moving forward.
Stephen Myers presented general project updates including the opening of the Sumner Street bridge for pedestrian traffic, the completion of the Kolbe Hall elevator, the completion of half of the Bierce elevator replacement, and the demolition of Gallucci Hall. A new pollinator garden will be a part of the site restoration in the Spring. EJ Thomas has new LED lighting in the lobby spaces. Auburn Science elevator project, IT cabling, Baseball field replacement, Computer Center Roof are all in progress. Guzzetta Hall’s roof replacement is almost complete.
The committee set the next meeting dates for November 21 and December 12. Spring semester dates will be set at the December meeting once everyone has teaching and other schedules determined.
Meeting adjourned at 4:08 pm

General Discussion
• Mark Okocha requested that discussion of a unified posting policy for all student groups be added to the November agenda. Max Fightmaster made the motion requesting the topic addition, Lisa Sabol seconded and the motion was approved unanimously.
Discussion was held on the topic submission received regarding the pedestrian
crosswalk at Hill Street and University Avenue. Since this was already part of the discussion with the city of Akron in previous meetings, Dorothy wil l follow up with Mike Lupica to check on status of painting this crosswalk and others around campus for better visibility.
Topics of better lighting in and around campus and placement of blue light towers were discussed per request of GSG President, Amanda Stefin. Shawn Stevens and Mark Okocha reported there was a Safety Walk scheduled for tonight @ 7:15pm. Typically USG representatives, UAPD and Safety personnel schedule at least one walk per semester to review such issues. The UA App also has a spot to report issues such as lighting, or other concerns in and around campus. USG will make sure that GSG representatives are invited to the walk.
Stephen Myers reported that additional blue light towers are installed when new construction is finished. They serve as a deterrent to crime and are checked on a regular basis.
The committee discussed concerns about students receiving information regarding safety, UA Zip Patrol and emergency contact numbers, specifically transfer students that do not receive any additional training when coming to campus. One idea is to include information when students pick up parking passes.
Mark Okocha reported that many student groups have concerns regarding rules about posting flyers in buildings. For example, the Student Union has a strict and clear policy regarding postings. Can there be one unified policy for all buildings? Stephen Myers stated that it’s up to each college/building to establish and enforce a policy. There are standard rules across campus that postings should not be placed on painted surfaces, but it’s not always enforced and not all buildings have bulletin boards to accommodate postings. Max Fightmaster suggested that building coordinators could serve as the contact for such questions and offered to get a list for Mark.
Mark Okocha requested information on how USG would obtain permission for students from the Art Brigade to paint/install murals in campus buildings. USG will need to seek permission from each college/building coordinator.
Stephen Myers presented general project updates including: the west campus parking deck is almost complete, railings to be installed on the Sumner Street bridge for pedestrian traffic, elevators in Bierce and Auburn will be completed by mid-December, still finishing roof replacements, structural repairs and roof replacement on the Carriage House at the Hower House are complete. IT infrastructure project is ongoing with pertinent information posted in The Digest. Library hours will be affected in January due to cabling work in the evening. The baseball field is almost

finished and the team did practice on it. The first phase of the vault project on Carroll Street is complete and the fencing will be removed soon. The second phase of the project starts in March in the center of campus and planned to be finished in the fall. Other updates include the demolition of Ayer Hall next fall, the Student Union is getting a new dishwasher, Radiator Rich will be torn down soon and the restrooms in Bierce are getting renovated. Finished projects include the Institute for Human Science and Culture and the College of Business Administration.
