Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance. Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. Illinois Learning Standards/Goals Met 19.A.1a Demonstrate control when performing combinations and sequences of locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative motor patterns in selected activities, games and sports. 19.B.1a Understand spatial awareness and relationships to objects and people. 19.C.1a Demonstrate safe movement in physical activities. Learning Objectives Psychomotor SWBAT demonstrate the proper technique for three out of the four locomotor skills (running, skipping, bear walk, crab walk) throughout the lesson. Cognitive SWBAT understand that the group who correctly performs locomotor skills and put the letters in order to form the correct word is the winner of the round by the beginning of the lesson. Affective SWBAT respect and encourage their teammates throughout the lesson. Lesson Activities Est. Time Activity Title Class Organization Teaching Points 2 mins Warm Up & Getting into Squads Students will come in and jog one lap and get into their assigned spot in their squads Hands to yourself Get into squads as quickly as possible 4 mins Explaining Relays & Lining up for Scramble Relay Students will recognize cones with sports logos on one sideline of the gym The rules of the relay will be explained Line up by rows & demonstrations of locomotor movements Check for understanding with a few questions Skip: step/hop, legs and arms in opposition A high five must be given for the next person to continue the relay Groups of 4 If it is a group of 3, then the first person will go twice What locomotor movements will be completed? What will the letters form?
