Types of Assessments
Diagnostic: Assessment that gives information about student’s skills and/or knowledge before instruction takes place
Formative: Assessment that provides feedback to students and instructors during instruction so that both can improve
Summative: Assessment that is meant to provide an evaluation of a student’s mastery or growth after instruction is completed
Informal: Umbrella term for measures of student performance or understanding that are not standardized, usually feedback is quick

BCPS has created a number of assessments. In many cases they are optional, and your school will decide if you have to give them. EOY: End of Year Exam - Final ExamMOY: Middle of Year Exam- Midterm ExamLDC: Literacy Design Collaborative
