MusicChoice 2: Dynamics Poem

Have you ever heard of the saying“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”?Well today you are going toexperience this. First, look at the cover of the book Emma’s Gems.Using one of the three emoji choices decide how you feel about the cover of the book.

Choice 1 Bonus Challenge:Complete the Dynamics ScavengerHunt worksheet on pages 4-5. Kindergarten friends can complete the Sorting Sounds Activity on page3. If you can't print it out use a blankpiece of paper and create the tableyourself. Take pictures of yourobjects or draw them and add themto the worksheet in the propersection.

Next, listen to the book read aloudby the author Anne Renaud. Finally, at the end of the story decidewhich emoji describes how you feelabout the story now! So you haveevaluated the story with 2 emojis. You may feel differently AFTER youhave heard the story. The author hasto choose an illustrator they thinkbest interprets their written ideas. Repeat this activity with this story Giraffe and Bird Together Again by Rebecca Bender. Choice 2 Bonus Challenge:Write, type or record the title andauthor of each of the 2 books. Nextdraw, type or tell what type of emojiyou would use to evaluate each bookBEFORE and then AFTER you read. What book did you prefer over theother? Why? Explain in completesentences. Did you change yourmind? Did anyone else listen to thestories? How did they feel? Have aconversation. We all have differentopinions and that is what makes usall special!

Watch the Forte Piano episode ofThe Music Show. As you listen to the Forte Piano songsing along with your Forte Voice andyour Piano Voice. Use the loud and quiet objects youfound in the last activity to play thebeat along with the song. Use yourloud item for the Forte part, and yourquiet item for the Piano part. Do you like Forte songs or Pianosongs better? Why do you think thatis? Write a sentence or draw a pictureexplaining why you like Forte or Pianomusic better. Share it with a familymember.

Choice 2 Bonus Challenge:Use the word PIANO or FORTE tocreate an Acrostic Poem with objects, instruments, activities and sounds that are soft (for piano) or loud (for forte). If you are an older student, watchthis video to learn more Dynamicsterms. Choose a different term, forexample pianissimo, to create yourpoem.  Add pictures and colours to yourpoem. Don't be afraid to get creative!Share your poem with a familymember or send it to Miss Harrison.

Give your mind and body a chance tocalm by following this Go NoodleMelting Activity. Make sure you are in space with enoughroom around you to melt to the floor.

Choice 1 Bonus Challenge:Do you remember this chart from thegym? Click on the picture to make it larger.

We can use the Talk Test to know howhard our heart is working. Be active andat the same time, talk to a familymember. If you can talk easily, your heartis not working too hard. Try doing aphysical activity that makes it hard foryou to keep talking. Can you set a dailygoal to reach a target level on the TalkTest scale? Students who know how to take theirpulse can follow the same sequence andinstead of doing the Talk Test, recordyour pulse before and after physicalactivity.

Choice 2 Bonus Challenge:Balance in a stork stand. Be sure to placeyour foot below or above your knee!

Count how many seconds you can holdthis balance. Can you carefully rise up onyour toes? What other shapes can youmake with your body? How long can youbalance? Make it a family challenge! Each familymember shows a shape for the rest of thefamily to copy. Explore what you can do to help youbalance longer. During PE, one of thethings we think about is focusing on onesmall spot in the distance. What else canyou do to help your balance?
