Photoshop task – The Kabeedies During lesson time we were set a task to practice our Photoshop skills by replicating the album artwork of the band "The Kabeedies".

First Image Firstly, I opened the CD template I was provided with, and then created a duplicate layer. The next step was to colour the background as close to the hue of the original CD cover, by using the fill tool on the side panel. The second step was to insert the photo's of the band members onto the template, re-sizing them, then use the magnetic lasso tool to select around the band members, and invert the image to allow me to use the eraser tool to rub out the white background without altering the actual image of the band.

• The next step was to write the bands name in the most similar font to the original, then, use the line tool to add in the border around the band name. Finally I inserted the decorative pattern, rotated it, and then used the magic wand to select and erase the white parts (like with the image of the band members) and change the opacity to get a light brown colour.

• The next step was to add the text in the same font. I did this by using the pipette tool to select the correct colour, and wrote the album name. I then rotated the text in order for each words to be the correct way up, mirroring the original album cover. Finally, I used the curves adjustment layer, the levels adjustment layer and the contrast/brightness adjustment layer in order to increase the contrast and grade the overall image. The final step was to add a vignette using the elliptical selection tool, inversing the selection and adding curves layer and use the Gaussian blur tool.

Second ImageThe first action to create this image was to open the crumpled paper image into Photoshop and use it as a background layer, resizing it to fit with the free transform tool. After this was done, I opened the polaroid frame as a new layer, and resized it to accurately fit. Following this, I copied and pasted the images of the band onto the image, resizing them and adjusting them to fit within the spaces of the polaroid images.
