What is Photorealism?
• Art movement found in the 1960s that carried
out through the late 70s.
• Branch of off minimalism and pop art.
• Taking a photo and expressing the realistic
value through painting.
Five Point Definition
• Photo realist uses camera
• Uses mechanical means to transfer
information
• Finished work must appear photographic
• Artist must exhibit work by 1972
• Artist must have devoted at least 5 years to
piece
