Assignment 3

Becki sheath

What is street photography?

Street photography is a tradition nearly as old as photography itself. Some of

the most famous street photographers are Eugene Atget, Henri Carter-

Bresson, Walker Evans, Robert Frank, Diane Arbus, Garry Winogrand and

Martin Parr. Early photographers made street photographs for their personal

interest.

WHAT IS THE DECISIVE MOMENT?

The decisive moment is something that you see that’s unique and you

probably wont be able to see it again.

Henri Carter-Bressen

This image is using the effect of blurr

motion. The angle that he has chosen to

use is not one most photographers would

chose to photograph at. The cyclist really

stands out this is because of the texture on

the walls and floor. This makes all bold lines

or shapes stand out. This is a decisive

moment image because you could never

see that cyclist take that route again and

Henri Carter-Bresson may never be in the

same position that.

The techniques that Henri Carter-

Bressen uses are the feeling of

awkward space. Such as the picture

that I have found he has awkwardly

positioned himself on a spiral

staircase facing towards the road.

He also uses the black and white

effect in nearly all of his pictures.

What do you think are the

ethical considerations for

street photography? In a life threatening situation I think a photographer

should help the person in danger instead of taking the

image. I think that its the same for people that are

injured that could actually survive if someone was there

to help them, in these cases the photographer, but

instead they chose to take the image.

Being a Street photographer means that you go out to

take an image no to course offence to a particular

group of people such a religion. It could also mean that

when you are taking pictures of homeless people or

taking pictures of children you need to take

consideration of people that don’t know where your

pictures are going or how there going to be used.

Robert Frank PHOTOGRAPHED IN 1978 Mabou

SICK OF GOOD BYE

The reason why i like this picture as much as i do is because in everyone's life you say goodbye to people. I think this picture captures the right emotion you feel when you say goodbye to someone. Also in this picture it looks like it maybe about a child as the hand is holding a child's toy.

The feelings this picture makes me feel is quite sad as saying goodbye is never nice for anyone.

He is an American photographer. Some places that he has photographed already is Times Square, New York and London Bankers. Some people he has photographed are Pablo Frank and Andrea Frank.

LONDON PHOTOGRAPHY

ORIGINAL EDITED

The reason why I have edited this picture is because I

wanted to make the focal point on the ‘welcome to

carnaby street’ sign as this is one of the first things you

see when you get to the street. The reason why I

chose to edit the people out of this image is because

they take the focal point away from what I really want

peoples eyes to be focused on.

London photography. The images I have chosen to submit for this unit are the one’s above. I chose

these from the London trip. The software that I used to edit these pictures is

Photoshop and Instagram.

The reason why I chose these images is because the quality of them are the

best out of all the images that I have taken. I also chose these images as

they all have something in common which is they are all of buildings/places of

importance.

To edit these images I used many different filters and blurred effects on

photoshop. The reason why I chose to do it in this style is because I wanted

to make a specific part of the image stand out such as a building/sign.
