Dedicated to all my long lost relatives. To the ones I never knew.

I never knew any of these people, they are all strangers to me. Some are still living and I do not know them. I cannot pick them out in photographs, I don’t recognise their faces or who they are. I couldn’t tell you they were my family, I wouldn’t know. I can’t tell you where they lived, where they grew up, what they did for a living, I do not know. Yet they are part of me, part of my history. They are my forgotten family. All we have is faded memories.

I wish I knew who they were, I often wonder if they would have liked me. What christmas and birthdays would be like if they were here. What it would feel like to have a big family surrounding me. I can only wonder.

Memories slowly fading away. Everyone becomes a memory someday.Our childrens children won’t know us, we will be forgotten. Except for photographs and second hand stories.
