    The Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers was organized

    in 1939 by a group of practitioners including Rafael Aguilar,Angel S. Arguelles, Armando Clemente, Timoteo T. Dar Juan,Felix V. Espino, Jose C. Espinosa, Ramon T. Feliciano, RoqueGarcia, Vicente Lava, Benito Legarda, Moises Lucas andFrancisco Quisumbing.

    The fifth professional organization accredited by the PRC,

    the PIChE was established to foster closer fellowship amongthe members and to uplift, safeguard and protect throughlawful means the welfare of its members.

    It advocates the advancement of science and technology inthe field of Chemical Engineering and upholds the higheststandards of the practice towards achieving national

    development. The PIChE is recognized as an active participant in the

    industrial pollution abatement practice and countrysidedevelopment. It gained global recognition in 1981 when itorganized the Asia-Pacific Confederation of ChemicalEngineers (APCCHE).

    A chemical engineer duly registered withthe PRC shall automatically become amember of the PIChE and shall receivethe benefits and privileges provided for

    and described in its by-laws upon paymentof required fees and dues. The PIChEshall keep an updated official registry of

    its bonafide members indicatingmembership and annual dues officialreceipt number

    a. Nominations to the vacancy of positions to theBoard of Chemical Engineering;

    b. Pursuing a program for continuing professionaleducation;

    c. Endorsement of the practice of foreign

    nationals to be issued temporary/special permit;d. Monitoring compliance and endorsing to/or filinga complaint with the Board and/or Commissionfor violation of the RA 9297, its IRR, Code ofEthics, Standards of Professional Practice and

    other agencies for violation of other relevantlaws; regulations and the like; ande. Some other functions, duties and responsibility

    as may be prescribed by the Board of ChemicalEngineering from time to time.
