Gymnosperms are seed producing plants which develop either on the surface of scales or leaves, often modified to form cones, or at the end of short stalks.

GYMNOSPERMS

Conifers are cone-bearing seed plants with vascular tissue. All kinds of conifers are woody plants. Mostly trees and a few, are shrubs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conifers
