The Pharma and Life Sciences industry in India is a noteworthy contributor to global markets, contributing US$ 16.4 billion in FY-17 and projected to reach US$ 20 in the next three years ( as per PHARMEXCIL).

Companies in life-sciences industry in India have grown from strength to strength in the global marketplace even as they serve the expanding domestic market building on current laurels. Substantial uncertainty rule life sciences industry given the deliberations that revolve around healthcare topics. Consequently, regulators the world over, drive hard bargains with manufacturers seeking greater compliance and best practices.

This however, is not easy to come by and even harder to sustain without significant investments and assimila-tion of automation and digital solutions across operations. Indian life-sciences industry must become more efficient, digitally enabled, and connected in new and imaginative ways. Simultaneously, the manufacturers' will need to scale capacities in double quick time.

From research and development, to designing of plant processes (be it batch or continuous process), to Supply Chain, to Logistics, to Packing, to Market reach operations, each area needs technology infusion embracing automation, digitization, and enterprise solutions. These are not just stand-alone solutions, but technologies across operations that rest on 'common-platforms.' The need of the hour is seamless integration of 'operational technologies' (OT) and 'internet technologies' (IT) that makes obvious improved operational efficiencies.

ISA Bangalore forum presents such an opportunity and a common platform for Manufacturers, OEMs, Regulators, Automa-tion Suppliers, Digital transformation solution providers, and Policy makers. The delegates would want to appreciate, assimilate, and absorb the business challenges that are experienced by the industry. Automation supplier and IT Enterprise solution specialists and experts from their R&D/marketing teams will endeavour to offer and provide appropriate solutions to the industry business challenges.
