We put fifth Pharma Echo first volume. Ms Bincy K. Chacko National seminar-“Madhumeh” 2016 was conducted in Pushpagiri College of Pharmacy at Mar Theophilos Annexe Auditorium on 22 nd Nov. 2016. Inaugura- tion of the seminar was performed by Shri. R. Chandrasekhara Pillai, DYSP,Tiruvalla. Dr. P. K. Sudhir Controller of Examinations, KUHS, was the Chief Guest for the inaugural func- tion. Inaugural function enriched with the presence of Rev. Dr. Shaji Mathews Vazhayil, CEO, Pushpagiri Group of Institutions, Rev. Fr. Joseph Valamparampil, Rev. Fr. Mathew Vadakkekuttu and principal, Prof. Dr. Mathew George made the event a grand function. Various scientific sessions were led by eminent speakers from different reputed organiza- tions/industry like, Dr. Ramkumar Pillappan on the topic “Diabetes rising: Role of pharmaceuti- cal industry & research”, Dr. M Nata Rajan Vaidyaa on “Madhumeh: Ayu Oushada Vidhi”, Dr. Sudha Vidyasagar on “Diabetes Mellitus -The best is still to come!”, Dr. K. Srinivasan on “Diabe- tes Research & Newer target for the Anti Diabetic Drug Discovery & Development” & Dr. Murali Badanthadhka on “Multiple targets to treat diabetes: what to choose?”. A total of 700 delegates including 180 external delegates from various Pharmacy colleges inside and outside Kerala attended the seminar. In association with Pharmacy Week Cel-ebrations 2017 “Pharma inspire 2016” –a Pharma exhibition was arranged byPushpagiri college of Pharmacy, on 24th

November 2016. It aimed to provide the informationand opportunities related to pharmacy profession withdifferent acts of exhibition, short film, skit etc. The func-tion was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Mathew Vadakkekuttu,Medicity director in the presence of Rev. Fr. VargheseManalel, Spiritual director and Prof. Dr. Mathew George,Principal. The exhibition, skit and short film were openedfor invited students from different schools nearby tillafternoon, Mary Rani Public School, Laikadu, MarthomaResidential School, Tiruvalla and Christ Central School,Tiruvalla. The exhibition was meant to create an un-derstanding among students about the human physiol-ogy, diseases and treatment strategies and formulationof drugs through working and still models and otherpharmaceutical equipments.

A medical camp-CLINICALMADHUMEH was conducted atThiruvalla railway station on 21st Novem-ber, 2016, Monday, as a part of NationalPharmacy Week celebrations 2016, un-der the Dept. of Pharmacy Practice, bythe V year Pharm D and II year M. Pharmstudents. The camp was officially inaugu-rated by Mr. K. V. Varghese, Municipal Chair-man of Thiruvalla and the presence ofMrs. Saramma Francis, Manjadi Council-lor, Rev. Fr. Mathew Vadakkekuttu, Direc-tor, Medicity Campus, Prof. Dr. MathewGeorge, Principal, Pushpagiri College ofPharmacy, and Prof. Dr. Lincy Joseph,H.O.D & P.G in-charge made the inaugu-ral function event more splendid. Approxi-mately 900 individuals participated andfreely checked their random blood glu-cose.

Federal Bank Ltd. Speak for India Debate District Level competition took place at Pushpagiri Collegeof Pharmacy Tiruvalla on 09th November 2016 in association with Mathrubhumi. The topic of thedebate was “The role of government should limit to law and order, everything else should be priva-tized."

About 28 teams from different parts of Pathanamthitta district were participated, out of which 12of them were selected for higher level competition. Our student Ms. Betty Mary Mathew of fifth yearPharm D was also selected.

A Vigilance awarenessprogramme was conducted on 5/11/2016 as a part of vigilanceawareness week organized by Cen-tral Vigilance Commission from 31stOct to 1st Nov. Indian pharmacy congress was held at Andhra University on 16th to 18th December 2016 atVishakapatnam. About 16 M Pharm II year students along with two faculty members attended theIPC congress at Vizag. The students along with faculty participated in the three day IPC congresswhich involved seminars from eminent personalities from the field of pharmacy from India andabroad, exhibition stall of pharmaceutical industries, poster presentation and cultural progarmme.The students also presented posters and visited pharmaceutical sciences oriented industries.
