MS-SQL 2008 Upgrade Guide
1 OVERVIEW
This manual describes how to upgrade from Microsoft MS-SQL 2005 to MS-SQL 2008. MS-SQL is one of Morpho SecureAdminTM application. This manual is intended as a practical "third-party" information for users of L-1 Security Solutions hardware and software and is not intended to replace the MS-SQL 2008 help files users should consult for specific questions or customized configuration of MS-SQL 2008 server.
2 UPGRADE PROCEDURE
Follow the procedure below, once the MS-SQL 2008 installation has started.
Step 1
Click YES to upgrade from MS-SQL 2005 to MS-SQL 2008.

Click Installation on the left of the screen that appears.
Step 3
Click OK on the Setup Support Rules screen.

Click Next on the Product Key screen.
Step 5
Click the I accept the license terms check box and the Next button on the License Terms screen.

Click Install on the Setup Support Files screen.
Step 7
Click Next on the Setup Support Rules screen.

Click Database Engine Services to select them and click Next on the Feature Selection screen.
Step 9
Check if the Named Instance radio button is checked and click Next.

Click Next on the Disk Space Requirements screen.
Step 11
Click Use the same account for all SQL Server services on the Server Configuration screen. You will get Pop-up window (see next step).

Click the Account Name drop-down and select NT AUTHORITY/NETWORK SERVICE on the dialog box.
Click OK on the dialog box.
Click Next at the bottom of the server configuration page

Click Add Current User to configure Server Administrator Account.
Click Next on The Database Engine Configuration screen.
Step 14
Click Next on the Error and Usage Reporting screen.

Click Next on the Installation Rules screen.

Click Install on the Ready to Install screen.
The Installation Progress screens appear.

Click Close on the Complete screen to finish the upgrade installation.

Problem Description restart Computer when installing SQL.
Trying to install SQL Server 2008 Developer edition setup fails at the Setup Support Rules page
on the Rule "Restart Computer". The following error message appear on screen: "Restart
computer failed".

Rule "Restart Computer" failed.
A computer restart is required. You must restart this computer before installing SQL Server.
The error message asks for a computer restart, but after rebooting the computer
many times, setup keeps failing on the same step.
Cause.
In general, a previous program installation created pending file operations on the installation machine.
Solution.
Please follow the steps below:
1) Open the registry.
2) Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

3) Double click "PendingFileRenameOperations"

4) Press the key "Delete" on your keyboard.
5) Press OK and close the registry.
6) Click Re-Run
