step 1 Apply a thin layer of base coat. Then apply one coat of light pink, let it dry.

step 2 Leave a gap from the cuticle and apply the second shade (we’ve used a bold pink) starting from one corner of your nail and ending in a subtle curve at the centre of the fingertip. Repeat on the other side, with the two intersecting at the centre.

Step 1 Apply a base coat. Apply one coat of white nail polish. Sponge pale pink nail paint on half of the white polish.

Step 2 Use a thin paintbrush, dip in black polish (or use a black nail art pen) and draw thick, curvy branch-like lines.

Step 3 Dip the tip of a bobby pin in a darker pink polish and dot the branches. Repeat with red. After it dries, apply topcoat.

To make better-shaped hearts, file your nails

in a more pointy shape than usual. If you can’t

free-hand the heart, just draw diagonal lines.
