Introduction to the League/Association

The Petersburg Academic Sports League, known as PASL, was established in the Spring of 1997 as a Feeder Program for Petersburg High School athletics. Its primary purpose, in addition to providing a positive outlet for youth, is to produce Junior Varsity and Varsity scholar athletes who, in addition to maintaining good grades, exhibit a good attitude, good behavior, and good sportsmanship. The league is sponsored by the Petersburg High School Boosters Club and is sanctioned by the Petersburg School Board as an official feeder program for Petersburg High School Athletics. The Petersburg Academic Sports League (PASL) is a non-profit organization committed to academic excel-lences and giving eligible youth, regardless of race, color, creed or athletic ability the freedom to explore the games or activities of football and cheerleading. The league is 100% run by adult volunteers from the Presi-dent to the coaching staff. These volunteers are devoted to excellence in the areas of citizenship, friend-ship, leadership, sportsmanship, mentorship and scholarship. The league’s mission is to build and enhance our youth’s physical and academic skills. In order to meet these standards, our youth are required to main-tain a “C” average; maintain good attendance in accordance with the schools standards and exhibit respect for authority. Encouragement of academic excellence and good sportsmanship on and off the field; our vol-unteers serve as academic tutors, coaches, mentors, team representatives and more. In 2010, the league partnership with Virginia Youth Football League (VAYFL) and USA Football to give our participants the opportunity to broaden/enhance their social and athletic skills while maintaining the pro-gram’s academic standards. To further broaden/enhance our youth socially and athletically, in 2015 the league became part of the American Youth Football and Cheer Organization (the largest youth football and cheer organization in the United States), Central Virginia American Youth Football Conference (CVAYFC). This allows the interaction throughout the state of Virginia while continuing to maintain academic excel-lence. In 2013, PASL adopted the “One Petersburg” concept, a vision of our President and Athletic Director, in an effort to unite all youth football and cheer programs at the Recreation Level which allowed the city to build a strong youth program while continuing to maintain Academic Excellence. This unification builds a strong feeder program for the high school and help combat youth crime. A Community Effort The costs involved in running the league are numerous, from uniforms, helmets/shoulder pads, insurance and referees, in addition to sponsorship of those youth whose are financially unable. PASL serve as an out-reach to all youth regardless of community statue. Unfortunately, only a portion of our financial needs are met through registration fees, which are kept below $100 to allow as many youth to participate as possible.

We need help from the business community to help us achieve our goals. This league cannot continue to function without support from organizations like yours in the form of corporate sponsorships. Your assis-tance provides an opportunity for the youth who otherwise may not be able to participate in a sports league of this caliber.

Mutually Beneficial Partnership The contributions made through our sponsorship program help pay the cost of running the league, provides free registration for those low-income families, and enables us to purchase uniforms and equipment that will benefit every participant in the league.

In return, the Petersburg Academic Sport League (PASL) will put you in front of an audience of families from the Petersburg and surrounding areas for which we play and cheer. We are asking that you contribute/donate at one of the below sponsorship levels. Our sponsorship program provides you with :
