The session was facilitated by Mark Williams and Nick Wright with assistance from Christine Milne and other teaching staff. In the week before the session, student had each done an exercise with their own class to find what they wanted to see happen to regenerate Peterhead town centre, using a questionnaire devised by the teachers containing different categories: Entertainments (gigs, concerts etc) Sports/activities Facilities Clothes shops General shops Food shops/restaurants/cafes Any other comments These suggestions have all been transcribed (see page 2). Structure of session: 1. Introduction. 2. Working in groups, students were asked to reflect on the ideas they had got from their classes and produce a mindmap/drawing/list of their ideas for the future of the town centre (see page 3). Plenary feedback. 3. Each student was asked to write down their own personal suggestion for the town centre. These have been transcribed (see page 5). Summary: “Don’t feel safe in town centre” “Dull town” Public realm improvements - water/fountains, toilets, bins, greenery, rentabike, benches, better lighting. Community wardens / community ambassadors. More fairs, gigs, events and outside stage. Place for young people to hang out, relax, feel safe, have fun. E.g. café, arcade. More local businesses – e.g. seafood restaurant: somewhere good to eat in the evening, based around local produce (adults independently suggested the same thing at the workshop) More High St shops, restaurants – and somebody wanted a Spotty Bag Shop!

5 November 2013

The session was with 25 members of school’s Pupils Council from

across different year groups. The session was facilitated by Mark

Williams and Nick Wright with assistance from Christine Milne and

In the week before the session, student had each done an exercise
