NPH/PERU JUNE, JULY, AUGUST ACTIVITIES AUGUST 31st, 2006 HOMES At this moment we continue renting two homes for the children that we have under our care. The space at the girls’ home is still enough for more children. On the other hand, we can not say that about the boys’ home for it is an old house that needs constant repairs and space sometimes looks very limited for our growing family. We are in the process of looking for a bigger home that suits our needs but we are also keeping an eye on rental fees for they are not cheap anymore. We have also seen that whenever we find a home that fits our needs, the landlords do not want to rent their homes for fear that the children might destroy their homes. CHILDREN During this time, we welcomed a family of four siblings (Claribel, 14 yrs old; Nancy, 11 yrs old; Neiser, 5 yrs old and Cindy 21 months old). Another family of three siblings also joined our family (Cinthia Erlinda, 7 yrs old; Anel, 5 yrs old; Franklin, 20 months old). Two brothers ( Jose; 13 yrs old and Elias; 11 yrs old) and Sandra who is 15 yrs old also joined our family. All of the children have adjusted easily into their new homes and daily activities. They children have also passed their medical check ups with regard to parasites and lice. MEDICAL SERVICES (DENTIST) We have taken all of our children to the dentist; many of the children need some work since for many they have never received dental care. We are taking two children per week, starting with the children that have the most urgent need. We hope to finish with these dentist visits by the end of this year. DONATIONS We were so happy to receive a donation of 44 mattresses, 17 big wardrobes, three sacks of rice and three sacks of sugar for our children. These are the first local donations we have received; we hope that this is just the beginning of the support we will receive from the local community. These donations will help us a lot since we will not need to purchase mattresses for our new arrivals or wardrobes. The donation of rice and sugar will last us for two months.

RELIGIOUS SERVICES The children have continued with their catechism classes and mass every Sunday. We offered a special mass for our beloved Fr. William B. Wasson on August 20th , thanks to the local priest who gave us all the facilities for the mass to be offered. We sincerely thank him for his kindness and above all, we are praying that Fr. Wasson will always guide us through the difficult moments. MISCELANEOUS We received a call from the national nutrition assistance program (PRONAA/Programa Nacional de Asistencia Alimentaria) approving our request for products such us rice, sugar, cooking oil, tuna, beans, subject to a few additional requirements. We are working on the additional items to ensure our program is accepted. Furthermore, we hope that you find our report interesting in our constant support to offer our children the best we can of each one of us by the principles that Fr. Wasson bestowed on us as a continuation of his love for all the children under our care. Sincerely, Alfredo Hernández/National Director NPH-Perú.
