The capital of Western Australia – the nation’s largest state. Its superb position on the banks of the beautiful Swan River and nearby natural bushland in Kings Park, make for a city centred on the great outdoors. Australia’s sunniest capital city, Perth embraces a relaxed outdoor lifestyle.
Head south to the port city of Fremantle where the fascinating maritime history blends with an open, multicultural energy or take a short ferry ride to Rottnest Island, a city escape for swimming, snorkelling, fishing and relaxing.
Further down the coast, you’ll find Rockingham, home to an abundant array of marine life including pods of wild dolphins that regularly visit. Wide-open waterways, memorable family fun and an enviable lifestyle can all be enjoyed in the vibrant city of Mandurah. The Peel Region has become a leisure mecca for lovers of everything from water sports and fishing to wine tasting. Or explore the north coast and experience the thrill of sand boarding on the endless snow-white sand dunes in Lancelin.
The cooler compact South West region of Western Australia is visually stunning, perfect for scenic touring. Best known for the renowned Margaret River wine region, an area famed for producing under 3% of Australia’s wine but over 25% of Australia’s premium wine, the South West is also home to Western Australia’s only old-growth forest and a spectacular coastline.
Indulge in fine wine and gourmet vineyard lunches; enjoy rolling green farmlands dotted with historic towns, a rugged coastline with spectacular surf and underground caves. Easy travelling with short distances between townships, the region is ideal for recharging and relaxing. For a detailed insight into this spectacular region join one of our escorted tours.
Discover just how big Western Australia is by experiencing the arid North West outback coast. Those making the journey will be rewarded with a collection of inspiring encounters with nature. Experience the incredible moon-like landscape of the Pinnacles Desert, World Heritage Listed and wild dolphins of Monkey Mia, red rocks and gorges of Kalbarri and pristine azure blue waters of incredible Ningaloo Reef where you can swim with the famous Whale Sharks. In Spring (Sept-Nov) stretches of barren roadside come to life, blanketed with colourful wildflowers of pink, blue, yellow and white.
Western Australia’s Golden Outback is a vast and surprisingly diverse region of outback Australia. Covering 54% of WA, it stretches from the rugged red earth of Mt Augustus in the north of the Gascoyne-Murchison region to the sweeping snow-white beaches of Esperance and the South Coast.
At the very heart of Western Australia’s Golden Outback lies the modern mining hub of Kalgoorlie and the Goldfields, offering fascinating insights into the history and heritage of the wild gold rush days. In the wheatbelt to the west, picturesque rolling farmland is dotted with colourful rural townships.
