TIPS TO EXCEL IN ACADEMICS
• Be attentive and enjoy learning. Learning is fun, not a burden.• Don’t escape from subjects/ chapters which you like less.• Ask questions and clarify doubts in the classroom itself. Don’t brush away a doubt
even if it seems silly to you or even if you think that others will laugh. Only anintelligent student or the one who has studied will have doubts.
• Outside the classroom consult subject teachers/ classmates and seniors and clearyour doubts.
• Revise the lesson during Prep, the same day. Also study and clear any backlogplaying a quiz etc on the subject along with friends.
• Don’t indulge in acts of indiscipline - you will waste time in official action. It willalso derail you from your journey toward success.
• Protect your body and health against injuries and illnesses with appropriate precau-tions.
• You wouldn’t want to miss crucial classes or exams. Your body needs at least 7 hoursof rest (so sleep from 10 PM to 5 PM). Studying late is only counterproductivebecause you would feel groggy and depleted of energy the next day – a conditionwhich will disrupt your concentration from studies. Whereas if you are properlyrested you will feel active and receptive during a class / exam.
• Set yourself goals of achieving specific percentage of marks- make a promise to yourparents or friends.

May I hate each evil thought,
May I do all things I ought. -
Enlighten our minds,
Strengthen our memories,
And direct our wills to do what is right.
Oh God, grant us courage to seek truth
And make us truly wise, by leading us
From darkness to light.
May all in this world be happy,
May they be healthy,
May they be comfortable
Oh Lord, each morning when we come to school
Bless us with a successful day
Bless our teachers one and all
And all our friends both big and small.
Bless our Parents whose love we share
And keep them always in your care.
We thank thee, dearest Lord
For this new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends.
Now guide us through another day
When at school and when at play,
And keep us safe from all evils.

THINK AND WIN
If you think you are beaten, you are.If you think you dare not, you don’t.If you like to win, but you think you can’t,It is almost certain, you won’t.
If you think you are lost, you are lost.For out in the world we findSuccess begins in a fellow’s will,It’s all in the state of mind.
If you think you are outclassed, you are.You’ve got to think high to rise,You’ve got to be sure of yourself,Before you can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always goTo the stronger or faster man,But sooner or later the man who winsIs the man who thinks he can!

FOOTPRINTS
One night a man had a dream.He dreamed he was walkingalong the beach with the LORD.Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.For each scene, he noticedTwo sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonging to him, and the other to the
LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashedbefore him, he looked back at the footprintsin the sand.He noticed that many times along the pathof his life There was only one set offootprints.He also noticed that it happened at the verylowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questionedthe LORD about it;
“LORD, you said that once I decided tofollow you,You’d walk with me all the way.But I have noticed that during the mosttroublesome times in my life there is onlyone set of footprints.I don’t understand why when I needed youmost you would leave me.”
The LORD replied:“My son, My precious child,I love you and I would never leave you.During your times of trial and suffering,When you see only one set of footprints,It was then that I carried you.”

IF
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em with worn-out-tools:
and lose, and start again at your beginnings.
And never breathe a word about your loss;
if you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
to serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in youIf
you can think and not make thoughts your aim;
If can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two importors just the same ;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em with worn-out-tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch and toss,
Except the will which says to them: “hold on!”
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And which is more you will be a man, my son!
