It will be published in September, and was written to help busy people to understand what is important to them in life and assist them to align their choices with their priorities. “It’s all about getting the most out of life,” Fox explained. “It’s not a scientific book; it’s my story of being an HR director who works part-time and has two children.” Speaking about her new appointment, Fox said she was enjoying the new challenges. “I’m really excited, and loving the job. C laire Fox has moved from HR director food solutions UK and Ireland at Unilever to global HR director for

Save the Children. She held various senior HR roles at Unilever for more than 12 years.

Save the Children is a global charity that operates in more than 120 countries. It aims to change the way the world treats children, and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

Fox told HR magazine that working in the corporate sector has prepared her for the charity sector. “There are quite a lot of similarities,” she said. “The need to be relevant, to be helpful and to keep building relationships is the same. Saying that, it’s

quite nice to be in an organisation where everyone is already engaged, bringing in their time and energy, knowing what the organisation stands for.

“The systems and processes aren’t as advanced, so that will be a challenge.”

Fox works flexibly, spreading her time between work, her two children (aged three and four), and her interest in health and fitness.

“My first job was as a fitness instructor,” she said. “In fact, my first degree was in sport science before I did a masters in management. Now I make time for exercise five times a week; either tennis, running or the gym.”

Her active and varied lifestyle prompted her to write a book based on her experiences,

titled Work/Life Symbiosis: The Model for Happiness and Balance. It will be published in September, and was written to help busy people to understand what is important to them in life and assist them to align their choices with their priorities.

“It’s all about getting the most out of life,” Fox explained. “It’s not a scientific book; it’s my story of being an HR director who works part-time and has two children.”

Speaking about her new appointment, Fox said she was enjoying the new challenges. “I’m really excited, and loving the job. I’m thrilled to be in a role where I can make a difference in an organisation that is making a difference.”
