Harrie W Bridgland Perpetual Shield Donated by Harrie Bridgland, Association Starter early 1900s, Official to 1930s. Life member 1926. Father of Walter Bridgland. Originally awarded for Pennant competitions 1949-50. Then from 1960-61 for first 5 swimmers from one club in Swim-thru-Adelaide. Swim-thru-Adelaide cancelled after 1981 due to condition of the water in Torrens Lake. 1983 - Trophy transferred to Women's 1500m Freestyle in State Open Championships to match the trophy donated by Walter Bridgland for the Men's 1500m Freestyle.

Sarah Ryan Trophy Donated by Bayside Aquatic in honour of member Sarah Ryan, Australian 50m and 100m Freestyle Champion and her achievements as an Australian international representative. She was an Olympic Gold medal winner in 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay in Athens.
Competed in 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympics as well as 1998 and 2001 World Championships winning a medal in every Games.
She was a member of James Aquatics and transferred to Bayside Aquatic when her former club folded. When Bayside folded in 2002 she retained her SA membership through Western Aquatics while training at the AIS.

Broomfield Cup Inaugurated 1960 Donated by Fred Broomfield an ex Victorian Breaststroke swimmer who was Secretary of the Gilberton Club for 23 years. He was an Executive Member of the ASU in the 1930s and SA Association Chairman in the 1940s and 1950s.

Spencer Major Trophy This Semaphore Amateur Swimming Club Cup was won by Spencer Major in 1919 for the Mile Championship and was donated to the Association by his family to perpetuate his memory.
Spencer Major was a State Freestyle Champion, a member of the Association Council and a prominent Amateur Coach.
Life Member 1956.

The Barry Duhne Trophy Not known who donated it but named for Barry Duhne who had fastest time for Swim-thru-Adelaide on six occasions. He was a State Freestyle Champion. Donated to State Association in 1965. It’s not known who awarded it prior to then but it is inscribed annually from 1913 when first awarded to Harry Moon for fastest time in Swim-thru-Adelaide. Continued to be awarded until swim was cancelled after 1981. From 1982 awarded for fastest time in the Delphin Island Swim and then subsequently the Commemoration Day Long Swim from around 1987. Refurbished in 1995 and then awarded for Male 50m Freestyle Champion.

The Waite Cup Donated by the Association to commemorate the late C.O. Waite, State Breaststroke Champion and representative in the 1920s and early 30s. Clem Waite became a prominent amateur Breaststroke Coach and an Association Official for 50 years.

Awarded for most outstanding Breaststroke performance by an individual at the State Age and Open Championships as prescribed in EBL 26.3.
For some years this trophy was only given for the best performance in 50m Breaststroke. This change was not documented and it has now been returned to its original criteria for any Breaststroke distance.

Donated by Anne (Onkaparinga) and Jim Braendler (Murray Bridge). Anne and Jim Braendler were supporters of Country swimming.
Jim was President of the SA Amateur Swimming Association from 1994 - 2004.
Anne was on the Board from 1992-3 to 2004, first as the Country Committee representative, later as the Technical Committee representative. Both were National Level Referees.

Donated by Glenda and Peter Bowen Pain (Norwood) Glenda and Peter Bowen Pain were involved in swimming from the 1970s and were founding members of Norwood. Peter was Age Group Officer on the Board, then Assistant Secretary then President 1976-1983. He was elected President of the ASU, now Swimming Australia, in 1984. Glenda followed as Age Group Officer, Assistant Secretary and in 1984 President. Both Peter and Glenda were National Level Referees.

The Klieve Trophy Donated by Heather Klieve, previous coach of Blue Lake Y Heather Klieve started a club at the YMCA Pool at Mount Gambier in 1981-82. Supported by Peter & Glenda Bowen Pain, she coached the club to become the strongest country club in the state. As a mentor, she took an interest in the whole person, not just their swimming. Heather wrote a book on swimming and she now lives in Queensland. Husband Ray Klieve, was a Technical Official.

Donated by Anthony Bryant (Clare) in recognition of family involvement.
Norah Bryant was the Secretary and backbone of the Clare Club from 1965-66 until 1981-82. Sons Tony and Barry were both swimmers. Norah was a Recorder.
Tony Bryant was a Board Member from 1980-81 to 1985-86 and 1992-93 to 1997-98 as Chair of the Country Committee.
Tony was AOD operator from 1988 to 2000.

Dalton Memorial Premiership Cup Donated by R.A. Dalton a prominent Association Official. Life Member 1934. Replaced in 1923-24, 1928-29 and 1934-35 after being won for three consecutive years by the same club. 1935-36 Malcolm Stevenson donated a new trophy to perpetuate the memory of the late Rowley Dalton.
