Timeline for Implementation

• February 2020: Submit application for new program/program change

• April 2020: Submit Perkins application that outlines preliminary projects to develop/strengthen pathway structure

• 2020/2021 School Year: Begin adding relevant courses to pathway framework

• 2022/2023: Offer relevant capstone course and administer appropriate TSA to capstone students

Making the Transition

• Under Perkins V, all projects must be linked to a Program of Study (Pathway)

• Federal funds may only be used on Programs of Study

• Two Major Exceptions • Middle School Activities

• CTSO activities

• The Division of Career & Technical Education will continue to fund all Cluster Programs using Added-Cost Funds and other state resources

Developing & Understanding Careers in High School

Pathway Programs(Programs of Study):

Sequence of contextualized and hands-on courses at least 3-5 semesters (or equivalent) in length that culminate in a Capstone course, includes a work-based learning component, assessment and leads to Technical Competency Postsecondary credit opportunities.

Industry-developed and approved standards. Industry credentials, where applicable.

State and Local Funds. Perkins Funds (Based on LEA Allocation).

Exploring Interests & Careers in High School

Cluster programs:

Cluster programs provide a broad introduction to specific industry areas. Courses are non-

sequential, introductory and intermediate in nature. Cluster programs are available only in

Agriculture, Business/Marketing, Family & Consumer Sciences, and Technology Education.

State and Local Funds only.

Technical College Programs

Sequence of contextualized and hands-on courses leading to technical certificates or associate degrees.

Industry-approved skill sets. Industry credentials, where applicable.

State and Local Funds. Perkins Funds (Based on LEA Allocation).

Exploring Interests & Careers in Middle School

ICTE statewide middle school program. Under Development.
