Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit…Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit…Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit…Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit…
On Pentecost Sunday, a “summer” choir of nearly three dozen First folks, ranging across three (really four) generations, raised their voices and filled the Family Life Center with rousing renditions of familiar hymns. Their inspiring presence, on a holiday weekend, was a singing testimony to our church’s spirited music ministry.
Our church’s music staff, Dr. Richard Williamson, Cindy Forbes, Organist and Bette Ann Braeutigam, Music Associate are dedicated, flexible, and very fun as colleagues (Richard’s occasional puns notwith-standing). Though all three are part-time, these hugely gifted, highly trained, and hardworking professionals encourage and equip the full range (that pun’s for Richard) of First Presbyterian musical offerings from:
• Creative youth ensembles, combining the variety of instruments and voices of our willing young people.
• A variety of choral music, including arrangements & compositions by our own Jeuel Esmacher and Dr. Williamson himself.
• A whole host of world-class guests, from vocalists to guitarist Ricardo Rodriguez
• Choral interns from Anderson University who sing and serve alongside us
• Our members honoring God whatever their skills and gifts, from songs of their own composition (Ashley Hall), parent-child duets, men’s gospel quartets, top-flight violin pieces, and so on.
• Plans for exciting help with children’s choirs this coming fall.
Worship styles and church musical preferences have changed dramatically in the past decades. We are blessed by a music ministry that welcomes all of God’s people sharing their many musical gifts. Please make a point to thank our choirs, musicians, and staff each Sunday AND to thank God for them!

PRAYERS REQUESTED: High School Mission Trip to Chicago, IL - June 7th - 13th
We are asking for prayers as our first mission trip heads out for the summer. Our high school youth will leave soon for Chicago, IL to participate with a program called DOOR which stands for ‘Discovering Opportunities for
Outreach & Reflection’. They will challenge our team to ‘see the face of God in the city.’ Our team will work at a variety of work sites varying from: soup kitchens, community gardens, food banks, senior centers, homeless shelters, children’s homes and more. We will stay at a church in the heart of Chicago, take public transportation throughout the city, learn about the city and its people and have many chances to reflect on our experiences. Mission Team: Mission Team: Mission Team: Mission Team: Kaitlyn Brown, Ashley Burriss, Emily Burriss, Molly Epps, Annalisa Hosea, Savannah Owens, Rebecca Stempniak,
Stephanie Stewart, Amelia White, Katie Williamson, Carleigh Wilson, Adults: DeRee Cavedo & Kari Morgan
JUNE MISSION MINISTRY
RHODES RESPITE CARE Rhodes Respite Care was a dream of the late Fred
Rhodes. It is our faith-based activity program for adults
with early to moderate memory impairment due to
Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia. It meets the
needs of the participating adults and gives their care
givers some respite from their care giving responsibility.
The Mission Ministry appreciates your prayers and
donations. We will be collecting paper plates, napkins,
plastic utensils & 9oz cold cups for the month of June.
Please put them in the blue bins outside the church
office.
