Formulas
PeRIMeter: Area: Volume:
P=2l+2w A=L*W V=L*W*H
![Page 3: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
What is a PeRIMeter?
•The distance around the shape•RIM around the shape
How do I find the PeRIMeter?
•2(length)+2(width)
PeRIMeter
Width
Length
![Page 4: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Let’s Try together:
Remember:
P=2L+2W
We Know:
Length=6Width=3
Now that we know the Length and Width, we plug it into the formula:
P=2L+2WP=2(6)+2(3)
P=12+6
P=18 units
![Page 5: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Lets Practice:Remember the Steps:
1.Identify the Length & Width
2. Plug it into the Formula3.Don’t forget your units!
Find the PeRIMeter
of the following two problems:
1. 2.
![Page 6: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Let’s Check Our Answers:
1.
L= 7 inW= 4 inP=2L+2WP=2( 7) +2(4)P=14+8P=22 inches
2.
L=8 ftW= 8 ftP=2L + 2WP=2(8) + 2(8)P=16 + 16P=32 Ft
![Page 7: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Area:
What is the Area?•The number of square units the figure covers
How do we find the Area?•Area=Length * Width
![Page 8: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)
Let’s Try together:
A = L * W5
1 1 1 1 1
11 1
4
From the picture we see that:L= 5W= 4Now we plug these values into the formula:A=L * WA= 5 * 4
A= 20 units²Notice the # boxes!
![Page 9: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Let’s Practice:
Find the Areas:
1. 2.
![Page 10: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Let’s Check our Answers:
Find the Areas:1. 2.

L=6W=3A=L * WA= 6 * 3
A= 18 Units²
L=9W=2A= L* WA= 9 * 2
A= 18 Units²

Volume of a Cube:
What is Volume?•The amount of 3 dimensional space an object occupies
How do we find the Volume?•Volume= Length * Width * Height
![Page 12: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Let’s Try together:
V=L * W * H
L-20 ftW= 8 ftH=8 ft
L=20 ft W=8 ft H= 8 ftV = L * W * HV = 20 * 8 * 8
V =1280 ft³
![Page 13: Perimeter, Area, Volume](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052211/559870c21a28abb86a8b486e/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Let’s Practice:
Find the volume:
Hint:Use the boxes to
count the Length, Width, &
Height

Let’s Check:
Find the volume:
From the boxes we can see the
Length=3; Width=3. & Height=3So….V= Length * Width * HeightV= 3 * 3 * 3
V=27 units³
