  • Speaker: Dr Allan Pirie BDS DGDP(UK) RCS MSc

    Allan qualified in 1981 from Glasgow University and

    subsequently worked for a year in London at the Royal

    Dental Hospital and the Middlesex General Hospital

    Oral Surgery unit.

    Since then the main focus of Dr Pirie's dentistry and

    postgraduate education has been in dental implants.

    He was awarded DGDP RCS in 1995 and gained an

    MSc in Implant Dentistry in 2006. He has taught many

    dentists implant dentistry and has been a tutor at both

    the University of Warwick and the University of

    Glasgow Dental Hospital. .

    Course learning outcomes:

    Understand the incidence of peri-implant disease Understand the different types of peri-implantitis

    Understand the causes of peri-implantitis

    Be able to diagnose the different types of peri-implantitis

    Be able to advise on remedial treatment,

    Be able to carry out enhanced scaling and OH measures, and advise on home care

    Be able to advise on surgical intervention- success and failure of treatment
