ABOUT OUR TOURUnity Through the Arts self-guided tour will lead you through the scenic country side and villages of Union County during their annual Colorfest celebration. Visit the many venues that are featuring visual art, theatrical performances and local music throughout the weekend. You’ll find artists working in unique studios located in historic barns or adaptively reused buildings along the way. You’ll have the opportunity to see a play about a World War II canteen, hear a West African drumming ensemble, watch weaving and pottery demonstrations and listen to original southern Illinois music echoing through the Shawnee Hills.

Join us for a day, and please return often.

Unity Through the Arts is a collaborative effort by the Anna Arts Center, Illinois Small Business Development Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Imagining Geographies – SIU, River‐to‐River Visual Arts Association, SIU Office of Economic and Regional Development, Southernmost Illinois Tourism Bureau, Union County Economic Development and the Union County Museum with the goal of encouraging residents and visitors to engage with artists, musicians, performers and poets who work and reside in Union County. The collaboration believes that artists enhance the communities of southern Illinois. Through their work, artists bring people of dissimilar backgrounds together to share their common experiences. Art stimulates peoples’ imaginations and helps to foster a rich and varied quality of life in the region. Where art thrives, communities flourish and the lives of their residents are enriched.
