The Pinckney Players are proud to present SPAMALOT as our second show of the 2012/2013 season.

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT is a musical (2005 Tony Winner for best musical), with a book by Eric Idle and an entirely new score created by Eric Idle and John Du Prez.

SPAMALOT tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people. Monty Python’s SPAMALOT “raises silliness to an art form” (The Sunday Times) and has been hailed as “a no-holds-barred smash hit” (The New Yorker).

This show is recommended for ages 13 and up!

Tickets go on sale March 11, 2013, and will be available at Pinckney Community Education, Busch’s ValuLand in Pinckney, Brighton Tux Shop in Brighton, and online at www.pinckney.players.com.

AUDITIONS

Audition Information - 17 years and UpAuditions will be in mid to late April, and the shows will be put on in the

Pinckney Park in front of the gazebo in mid-June.

Baptista Minola of Padua has a problem: his youngest daughter Bianca is young, beautiful, and sought after by many suitors, but his eldest daughter Katerina is a shrew of the highest order, renowned across Italy for her sharp tongue and unpleasant disposition. Single men shrink from the idea of courting Katerina, yet annoy Baptista about marrying Bianca, which prompts Baptista to decree none shall have Bianca until Katerina be married.

The suitors to Bianca: Lucentio, Gremio, and Hortensio resort to crazy plans involving pretending to be tutors to continue to court Bianca, while at the same time Hortensio finds a man actually willing to marry the shrew Katerina, regardless of her unpleasant reputation. Petruchio of Verona willingly and eagerly takes on the challenge. After much name calling by Katerina and loving banter from Petruchio, the Veronese young man declares he will marry Katerina on Sunday. He lies to Baptisa, claiming Katerina has approved of the match. Katerina hears the lie, but does not refute it.

Bye Bye Birdie and the New Jane Tasch—A Great Combo!

The Pinckney Players were thrilled to open the newly renovated Jane Tasch Theatre with this wonderful family classic, Bye Bye Birdie. With over 40 cast members, tons of brightly colored costumes, and some fabulous dances, it was a real treat for audience members. It was a blast to perform and a great fun and upbeat show to bring to life. A special thank you to the production crew Ann Langford (Producer), Thom Mellen (Assistant Director), Sally Mikat (Music Director and Conductor), Lexie Janda (Choreographer), and Kevin Leistner (Costumes) for all their hard work. It really showed in this production that opened not only the new Theatre, but also the Players’ 21st season. We give a special thank you to our Elite Sponsors, Adiska Dental and Sound Financial, as well as Dan Hall’s Pinckney Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge. Without your continued support, the Players would not be able to perform this family favorite and continue to provide quality community theatre for Pinckney and the Livingston County area. We are very excited to be one of the first groups in Michigan to perform, straight off Broadway, Monty Python’s Spamalot, in April. If you like to be entertained and laugh a lot, then this is the show for you. We hope to see you all again at the theatre, our home away from home!
