What makes change so challenging?
Change in culture and behavior has always been difficult. Why is it so hard?
Two fundamental reasons:
• people – especially professionals – do not like to be changed. Corporate programs need an other approach
• because behavior is (so) personal, how do we manage so many opinions on how new behavior should look like?
Adopt two new paradigms to ensure your change works and is accepted
To avoid the piSalls in change management as we know it, two principles need to be introduced.
• First, apply what we call ‘co-‐construcCng change’: have your employees parCcipate in designing the new. So even before “implementaCon” comes to mind, they already are part of the change.
• Second, don’t try to fix problems, build on what’s already working. Your company wouldn't be where it is now if without the capabiliCes and successes on which that posiCon is built.

• To scale up in a cost-‐ and Cme-‐effecCve manner, all employees (and possibly customers and other stakeholders) are invited to share their opinion. This is done by using our proprietary online prioriCzaCon tool Preference™.
• The prioriCes selected by employees not only give a sense of ‘shared direcCon’, it also pin-‐points where to start.
