1. Before using yourPerform-Max Sanitizer, youmust first balance your poolwater. Take a water sampleto your local poolprofessional or use acomplete test kit that willtest for the followingimportant elements.
Water Balance GuidelinesFree Chlorine: 1 — 3 ppm
Free Bromine: 2 — 5 ppm
pH: 7.2 — 7.8
Total Alkalinity: 60 — 120 ppm
Calcium Hardness: 150 — 300
Total Dissolved Solids: <2000
Stabilizer: 20 — 50 ppm
2. If your fill water is high inmetals, check with yourpool professional on how tomaintain proper levels. Itmay require shocking thepool and cleaning the filter.
4. To achieve an initial freechlorine reading at thebeginning of the season, adda chlorine shock. Followmanufacturer’s directionscarefully.
5. Do not add shock in ornear the skimmer or into thePerform-Max as it coulddamage equipment, riskpotential explosion or discoloryour pool surface.

1) Make sure back pressure Is between 3and 8 psi.
Higher back pressures result in over chlorination. Lower backpressures result in under chlorination. Adjust eye ball fittingsin the return jets to a larger size to decrease back pressureor smaller size to increase back pressure.
2) Recommended flow rates for in ground unit is 20-80gpm and for above ground unit is 20-60 gpm.
3) Determine possible high-flow situations that require aspecial installation such as:
A. Water flow is higher than 80 gpm.
B. In-floor cleaner is included with pool.
C. Pool and spa combination with common equipment.
NOTE: Over chlorination or damage to the Perform-Max orother equipment could result if these special installations are notused in these situations.

When using slow dissolving trichlor, the Perform-Max should be operatedbased on its normal erosion design where only the bottom layer of tablets arewetted. This provides better controllability and longer lasting sanitation perrefill. When using bromine, the Perform-Max should be operated as a soakingfeeder as this chemical works best when all tablets are wetted. Thereforebleeding the air by unscrewing the cap knob is recommended.
