Notes: Unless notated, the beginning chain of each row does not count as a stitch. Make

the first stitch of each row into the same stitch as the beginning chain.

When crocheting into the sides of rows, be sure to follow a pattern of alternating 2 and

1 stitches in each row. This will help keep your stitches even.

Front & Back Panels (make 2)

Beginning with the bottom ribbing, you will first work side to side before working from the bottom up.

Bottom Ribbing

Chain 8.

Row 1: hdc into the second chain from the hook. Hdc in each ch across. Turn. (7)

Rows 2-29: ch 2, 1 hdc in the blo of each stitch. Turn. (7)

Panel Body

Turn to work lengthwise across the side of the rows just completed. Odd rows will indicate the right side (RS). The final row at the top of each shoulder will be on the wrong side (WS).

Row 1: ch 2, *1 hdc into the side of the first row, 2 hdc into the side of the next row.* repeat ** across. Turn. (43) Place stitch markers at each end of row #27 to indicate the top of the side seams when assembling (this is the underarm).

Rows 2-33: ch 2, hdc across. Turn. (43)

Left shoulder (denoted as “Row #a”)

Row 34a: ch 2, hdc in next 13 stitches, hdc2tog. Turn. (14)

Row 35a: ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc in remaining 12 stitches across. Turn. (13)

Row 36a: ch 2, hdc in next 11 stitches, hdc2tog. Turn. (12)

Row 37a-40a: ch 2, hdc across. Turn. (12)

Finish off. On one of the the 2 panels, leave a long tail for sewing the seam across the top of the sweater.

Right shoulder (denoted as “Row #b”)

Row 34b: Count 15 stitches back from the unworked end of row 33. Attach yarn and ch 2. Working toward the end (not the completed shoulder), hdc2tog across the 14th and 15th stitches from the end. Hdc in remaining 13 stitches. Turn. (14)

Row 35b: ch 2, hdc in next 12 stitches, hdc2tog. Turn (13)

Row 36b: ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc in remaining 11 stitches. Turn (12)

Row 37b-40b: ch 2, hdc across. Turn. (12)

Finish off. On one of the the 2 panels, leave a long tail for sewing the seam across the top of the sweater.

Assembly

Once both front and back panels have been completed, place both panels with right sides together to sew seams across the top of the shoulders and along the sides (including and below row 27). This will leave approximately 5” of open space at the top of each side where the arms will be worked. Turn right side out to add the yoke/collar and sleeves.

Yoke/Collar

Row 1: Attach yarn at the seam of either shoulder. ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch. [Repeat *1 hdc in side of the next row, 2 hdc in the side of the next row* until reaching row 33 of the panel (11 hdc stitches). 15 hdc across row 33 (this will include into stitches where half of an hdc2tog were made in row 34). Repeat *2 hdc in the side of the first row, 1 hdc into the side of the next row* up to the next seam (11 hdc stitches).] Repeat [] for the other panel to complete the base of the yoke. Join. (74)

Row 2: ch 3, dc in 10 stitches, dc3tog, dc in next 11 stitches, dc3tog, dc in next 20 stitches, dc3tog, dc in next 11 stitches, dc3tog, dc in next 10 stitches. Join. (66)

Row 3: ch 2, puff stitch in same stitch, skip the next stitch. Continue to puff stitch in every other stitch around. Join.

Row 4: ch 1, repeat *sc in the next 2 stitches, sc2tog* around. Join and finish off.

Sleeves

Row 1: Attach yarn at underarm seam. Ch 2 (counts as stitch), hdc in same space. Repeat *1 hdc into the side of the first row, 2 hdc into the side of the next row* around. Do not join. (43)

Row 2: sc into the first stitch of row 1 (mark with stitch marker if preferred). 1 hdc in all stitches around. Do not join, but continue to work in the round. (43)

Row 3-11: hdc in each stitch around. (43) If using one, move the stitch marker with each completed row.

Row 12-19: hdc2tog, hdc around.

Row 20: hdc in each stitch around until last 2 stitches. Sc in second the last stitch, sl st in last stitch to join.

Row 21: ch2, puff in same stitch, skip a stitch. Continue to puff stitch in every other stitch around. Join.

Row 22: ch 1, sc around. Join and finish off.

Complete other sleeve and sew in ends.
