PERFECT MOMENT - ‘A FREERIDE STATE OF MIND’

The Perfect Moment brand embodies a love of style and a passion for adventure, based on a product blueprint that talks to Ski & Surf collections built on Fashion, with function… Giving Perfect Moment a unique brand identity. “Born in Chamonix, with a Freeride State of Mind”. The goal we set ourselves is to capture the “joie de vivre” of freeriding in our clothing. Freerid-er’s want function, their gear must stand up to the demands of their sport, but they want clothing that matches the sense of style and excitement that they get from being out on the mountain or in the ocean.

Turning a passion for fashion and a love of freeriding into functional mountain and beachwear is a challenge, but at Perfect Moment we believed in our vision. We wanted to create a different style, a style that breaks the mould of the boring technical garment brands. Perfect Moment is stylish, fun and unique, with quality pieces that capture the “Freeride State of Mind.” We want our consumers to feel that a Perfect Moment jacket fits and looks sensational, while still functioning flawlessly whether on top of a mountain in Chamonix, on a beach in Hawaii, or even on the streets of Sydney.

The Perfect Moment adventure started over ten years ago, when legendary filmmaker Thierry Donard decided to change the concept behind his famous European Nuit de la Glisse film tour. This new concept focused on the ultimate goal of every athlete, to experience that Perfect Moment. He assembled some of the best freeriders on the planet, including snowboarders, skiers, surfers and others who shared the special spirit of freedom, performance and friendship, on the big screen.

Perfect Moment clothing, itself, was borne out of a realization felt by Thierry and Nuit de la Glisse snowboard star, Lene Nordermoen. The outfits the athletes wore seemed dull in compari-son to the exhilarating action on the screen. Inspired by the Perfect Moment concept and with her deep roots in the freeriding community, Lene used her creative talent to design the dazzling first Perfect Moment Collection back in 2004. Since then, our collections have continued to inspire and set a unique brand position.

At Perfect Moment, we continuously push ourselves to improve and evolve all aspects of our product design, assuring they look and perform to the levels our consumers demand. All products are thoroughly tested by our team of professional skiers, snowboarders and surfers - their unique experience and demands in terms of quality, functionality and style are a priceless resource to the company when it comes to improving and developing our products.

TECHNICAL PROMENS WINTER 13/14

The Perfect Moment Pro line was hewn straight from the icy heart of Greenland, that frozen expanse of snow and glacier that was deceitfully named by Erik the Red to encourage his

fellow Vikings to move there. He should have just waited a few centuries. For nowadays, the world’s largest island is also one of the world’s most desirable freeride domains, boasting vast

swathes of steep, powder-filled slopes still waiting for their first touch of sintered base and steely edge.

But conditions can be harsh in an environment like this. The Qanuk Pro Jacket, Qanuk First Layer & Qanuk Pro Pant were built to protect the Perfect Moment Freeride Team in

this Arctic terrain, as they filmed for La Nuit de la Glisse in Greenland in 2012.

What this also gave us was the opportunity to conduct the ultimate road-test (should that be ride-test?) of our latest and toughest ever technical freeride line. We can report that the guys and girls loved the quality of the clothing – but that was hardly surprising. Sporting the latest

Schoeller 3L c-change ™ fabric, the outer layers of our Qanuk Pro Jacket and Qanuk Pro Pant are exceptionally waterproof (20k), but also offer industry leading breathability (18k).

What they also provided was the kind of in-depth feedback only dedicated professional riders can give you. For Perfect Moment this enabled us to fine tune our technical freeride range, so

that we can now bring Freeriders the ultimate in high performance snowsports clothing. Of course, we made sure it kept more than a pinch of the Perfect Moment pizazz too – there’s no

reason why you can’t look stylish, while being perfectly protected from the elements.

The Aurora Softshell has been designed for active use, whether on or off the mountain. The jacket integrates Schoeller’s energear™ special mineral matrix into the softshell fabric to reflect the body’s Far Infrared Rays (FIRs) back to the wearer. The reflection of the FIRs promotes blood circulation and increased oxygen levels in the blood, making for additional energy and shorter warm-up times. This revolutionary material combined with our evocative and vibrant styling makes our 13/14 softshell range a year-round performance piece.

PERFECT MOMENT STAR

We’re often asked about the Perfect Moment star on our clothing. It’s gradually evolved into our emblem over the last few years – we just found its dynamic asymmetric design and vibrant energy embodied the spirit of Perfect Moment. But where did it come from?

In fact, it really was inspired from a star – in this case the North Star (Polaris). As we do like to shout about, the Perfect Moment design team are also our riders. Hence they travel the Freeride world not so much for simple style ideas as to live at the heart of the Freeride movement. Their inspiration is drawn from self-immersion in the moment of experience, that combination of location, performance, conditions, company and attitude that delivers the exuberance in existence that defines the essence of Freeride.

It was on such a trip into the frozen expanse of snow and glacier that is Greenland that the star became increasingly relevant to Perfect Moment. The quest for perfect powder meant the team frequently was out ascending hills under the pre-dawn sky. Successful navigation was key in such a harsh environment and the team found themselves regularly referring back to the constant shining presence of Polaris, the North Star, to get their bearings.

The sense of the reassuring celestial beacon providing a fixed point to orientate around powerfully resonated with our designers. Not only did it speak to the great outdoors and the freedom of adventure from a physical point of view; it also captured the sense of the spiritual quest for the existential euphoric instant of Freeride - what we describe as the Perfect Moment.

The star came to represent for us this focal point of the Perfect Moment that we all seek out. And hence it came to represent us as a business as well. The asymmetry of the final design also spoke to the energy and movement within Freeride. Even as we achieve our goal, we are always moving on to the next moment – freeriders never stand still.

So, while it may also be the height of stellar style, our Perfect Moment star really is our spiritual core as well…
