Often in Film and Television, people of color are portrayed with certain characteristics/traits. These two main categories are: Intellectual Traits, and Moral Traits. In fact, some of the characters we see in movies and on TV can
sometimes send a negative message to the public about how they should portray people of color, and therefore create stereotypes that cause a
“false image” of what people of color really do stand for and how they act in reality.
Intellectual Traits include:-Preoccupied with simple ideas
(ex. Getting money)-Inferior strategy in conflict situations
(fighting)-Low or nonexistent occupational
status (No job)-Poor speech patterns/dialect
-Comedic foil (a clown)
Moral Traits include:-Low regard for human life
-Criminal behavior-Sexual promiscuity-Drug/alcohol abuse
-Dishonesty
