He was a member of the Amherst Storm Water Committee, the Open Space Committee, the Solid Waste Committee, the Land Trust, the Conservation Commission, and the Historical Society. He co-au- thored the Conservation Commis- sion Walk Book and was treasurer of the Conservation Commission. He built several bridges on conser- vation land, helped in building the Pond Parish board walk and main- taining miles of conservation trails. In a written statement titled “Ed- itor’s Valediction”, Bill wrote, “Once again, age and sickness have over- taken the editor, and volume XLIX is my last. NASHUA – Rivier University has appointed Dr. Susan Langlois as its new Dean of the Division of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Langlois comes to Rivier with extensive administrative experience in academic leadership, curricular innovation, experiential learning, and student academic ser- vices. As Dean, she will oversee aca- demic programming for the natural and social sciences, humanities, and mathematics and computer science departments. “Dr. Langlois’ areas of expertise include program development, in- stitution accreditation, and the as- sessment of student learning out- comes,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, President. “Her career reflects a commitment to the trans- formational role of the liberal arts in higher education. She is a strong and welcome addition to the Rivier University academic community.” Prior to joining Rivier, Dr. Lan- glois served as the Dean of Aca- demic Affairs and Student Services at Marian Court College where she acted as the chief academic officer and primary author on the insti- tution’s NEASC accreditation self- study, and she instituted online peer-tutoring programs and a com- prehensive evaluation instrument for student learning outcomes. Her distinguished career also includes key administrative and faculty ap- pointments at Springfield College, Endicott College and Elms College. “e University is fortunate to have the benefit of Dr. Langlois’ experience and collaborative spir- it,” says Dr. Douglas Howard, Vice President for Academic Affairs. “As the University continues to expand its programs and online offerings, engaging a broader range of stu- dents, her focus on curricula and academic services that support pos- itive, measurable student outcomes is invaluable.” Dr. Langlois holds a Doctor of Physical Education (D.P.E.) degree from Springfield College. Her doc- toral work includes the multidisci- plinary areas of exercise physiolo- gy, motor learning, biomechanics, and the social science components of sport philosophy, sociology and psychology. Dr. Langlois also re- ceived her M.S. degree from Spring- field College in Teaching and Ad- ministration and B.S. degree from the University of New Hampshire in Physical Education. Kate Guerdat Appointed to Girl Scout Board of Directors Kate Guerdat AMHERST – While she was growing up, Kate Guerdat gathered many fond memories from her years as a Daisy and Junior Girl Scout, and the camping trips she took with her mother, who served as their troop leader. Today, Kate shares in the Girl Scout experience with her young daughter, Cadence, a Daisy Girl Scout in Amherst, NH. is past year, Kate even helped coordi- nate Girl Scout cookie sales for her daughter’s troop. Earlier this summer, Kate, who is the associate vice president of aca- demic affairs at Manchester Com- munity College (MCC), was ap- pointed to the board of directors of the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains earlier this sum- mer. Professionally, she supports the college’s areas of institution- al assessment and online learning, working directly with program ar- eas in efforts to expand their reach. She said serving on the Board of the Directors will allow her to work towards both organizations’ collective missions of preparing fe- male graduates for a brighter future. “MCC has a mission of STEM pro- ficiency,” Kate noted. “And the Girl Scouts has such a rich, multi-facet- ed history. I’m fortunate to now be working in a capacity where I can benefit both causes.” Plans for a series of Girl Scout events at the Manchester campus are currently in the works, Kate not- ed. She’s also hoping to utilize her high-visibility to ultimately create some new opportunities for girls of various ages and interests. “I’d love to see more camps, as well as more year-round opportunities,” Kate said. “e community college en- vironment lends a ready hand. We can offer more leaders and more training opportunities: a win-win for everyone.” When Kate isn’t working, she en- joys spending time with her family and enjoying the great outdoors. Vander Mey’s work will be on display at the CNN Center in Atlanta GA, Janu- ary 10-14, 2016. is International Photograph- ic Exhibition is held in conjunction with Imaging USA, an annual con- vention and expo for professional photographers and several photo- graphic associations. Vander Mey’s photographs were judged against 30,000 entries world-wide. PPA’s Imaging Excellence Award recog- nizes those individuals who have obtained their master’s degree in photography and continue to excel in their profession and succeed in PPA’s International Print Competi- tion. To be eligible for this honor, an entrant must hold a Master of Pho- tography or Master Artist degree from PPA and have a minimum of 13 images accepted into the PPA Loan Collection. Marsha is a member of the Pro- fessional Photographers of America and is the President of New Hamp- shire Professional Photographers Association. She has won numer- ous awards for her work including the Fuji Masterpiece Award and was voted Best Photographer of the Souhegan Region. Her work has been published in numerous publi- cations and been shown in Interna- tional Exhibitions.
