  • State President and Membership Chairman Report C. Michael Clepper and Robert P Wahls

    February 2020

We hope that everybody had wonderful holidays and has had a good start to the new year. We now have four months left in our fraternal year so we need to put a push on getting new members so that we can have a net gain plus 2%. On Thursday, 1/9/20 Bob and I visited Gettysburg to attend their meeting. Upon arriving we were met by Secretary Eric Barnes. The three of us had dinner before the meeting. Besides donating money to one of their charities they also donated to my charity and the FOE Memorial Fund which Bob is the Eastern Regional Chairman. A picture was taken with Bob Wahls, K. Koons, Gary Heller, Eric Barnes, Ron Gotwald, Jeff Baumer, Fred Hess, Marty Slagle, Mike Clepper, Cary Shirley, Pete Beck, and Brian Little. Gettysburg took in four new members. On Thursday, 1/16/20 Bob and I headed to Littlestown for their meeting. We arrived early so we could eat dinner. We were greeted by President and PSP Larry Mendenhall. We talked to officers Fred Hentzman III, John Brenner, Russell Peregoy, Tim Evans, Richard Valko, John Engel, Doug Bachota, and Tina Heiser who also is one of the bartenders. They swore in three new members. On Sunday, 1/19/20 we headed to Lebanon because they have their meetings on Sunday afternoon. Upon arriving we were met by bartender Lester Bridenstine who has worded parttime for years and was quite the bowler. Besides officers Michael Sullivan, Michael Heblow, Sandra Heffelfinger, Robert Thome, Todd Yingst, Angelo Arnold, Ryan Copenhaver, Russell Henning, Robert Fidler, Scott Hainly, James Arnold, and Jeffrey Keller everybody at the bar went to the meeting. During their meeting they read off six new applications for membership. On Monday, 1/27/20 we headed to Hanover for their meeting. Since their President and Vice President resigned and they had an election for Vice President Bob swore in the new Vice president and then swore him in as President. Now they will have to have another election for Vice President. When we arrived were met by State Conductor Pat Laughman. Other officers there were Blaine Gladfelter, David Felix, Bob Hollingshead, Wayne Reeb, John Arnold, Mike Minor, Jan Cromer, and John Clouser. Hanover also read off some new applications. I talked on my charity and Eagle Village and Bob talked on membership. It looks like we are doing pretty good on membership as long as we can get everybody sworn in. Fraternally, Mike and Bob

    Grand Madam President.

The hours for this Mason Dixon Conference will be Friday April 3th beginning approx. 2:00 PM (or as people an•ive ). On Saturday April 4th we will resume fund raising at 9:00 AM and will continue throughout the day,

with the exception of breaking long enough for our annual meeting starting at 11 :00 am. Kitchen menu will be available. The conference casual dress and the Aerie is a smoking facility.

DONATIONS NEEDED! ! As in the past on these two days, we do what Eagles do best 'having fun' and promoting our motto, "People Helping People". As always, we need DONATIONS! !! Any Aerie/Auxiliary or any individual wishing to

donate items to chance off, please get in touch with your state representatives or contact Mary Wilson, 703- 2017162 voice/txt. The various BASKETS are always a big hit. Liquor cannot be brought into the club- but

if you have a basket with liquor - leave the liquor in your car and put a picture in the basket.

Last year we had $1.00 table with the eggs -if you are a winner then you could pick from the items on the table. We are asking that you bring in items for the table - so if you have any items around the house that

you would like to donate -bring them in.

Let's see if we can outdo ourselves this year. Any checks that are donated please make them payable to the 'Mason-Dixon Conference'. At the end of the conference we will write our Grand President Elects a check for

    the monies raised.

MEETING INFO On Saturday morning, we break for a short meeting at 11 :00 AM to conduct business. Each year we also pay tribute to our deceased Eagle brothers & sisters. The host aerie will conduct the Memorial Service. Also during the meeting, we elect new officers, announce your new state representatives, and set plans for next year's conference. This meeting will be smoke free.

Anyone interested in holding an office please be present or write a letter stating your interest.

If your Aerie is interested in hosting the 2021 Mason Dixon Conference please submit a letter of interest.

Send all correspondence to Mary Wilson, Mason Dixon Secretary - via email [email protected] or snail mail 6040 Fieldcrest Ln, Broad Run, VA 2013 7.

PENNIES FROM HEAVEN - Saturday Night at the Banquet Let's not forget our "Pennies from Heaven". Bring your change and or bills, for when the time comes - drop it out on the floor or in the bucket. Let's all watch as our Grand President elects, Dave and Jacque "clean-up" the Aerie floor!

Remember, the money collected for the "Pennies from Heaven", go to their Charities of choice. Let's help their charities get off to a great start.
