In Stainforth, horse boxes and trailers can use theYorkshire Dales National Park Authority car park whichnow has 2 dedicated bays for box parking. The link to TheSettle Loop via Goat Scar Lane is signposted.

Restricted parking is available in Settle in Greenfoot CarPark, near North Ribblesdale Rugby Club, however y oumust park WITHIN the marked bays (size 2.4m x 5m).Charges are per marked bay, so 2 tickets may be required.

Pennine Bridleway

ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION

The Settle Loop is the first section of the PennineBridleway to be opened in the Yorkshire Dales NationalPark. The loop is a 16km (10 miles)circuit taking in stunning limestonescenery including views of the nationallyimportant Malham Tarn.

The loop starts in Settle and climbs outof this lovely town into the YorkshireDales National Park (look for the Acornsign), traverses a wonderful limestoneupland, before descending back towards Settle. The trailincorporates open grassy stretches, limestone outcrops,grass / gravel paths and quiet winding lanes near Settle.

There are many other bridleways in the area which can beused to extend your journey by linking to Malham village

and Tarn, and over into Littondale and Wharfedale.

The Pennine Bridleway, when completed, willweave its way for 560km (350 miles) through thePennine hills from Derbyshire to Northumberlandusing a mix of old packhorse routes, drove roadsand newly created bridleways. The whole trail willbe available for horse riders, mountain bikers andwalkers.Already there are 192km (120 miles)

There will be a cost for using the facilities which can befinalised through your discussions with the club.

Both above car parks are signposted from the B6480.Several other car parks in Settle are suitable for cars.

The Settle Loop

Horse box parking

The best time to complete the Trail isApril to October when the weather ismore favourable. However be preparedfor anything from torrential rain to hotsunshine! The Trail is well signposted witheasy to use gates.

l Take waterproof clothing for the worst weather but in hot weather protect yourself from the sun and carry plenty of water

l Carry a map, phone and some form of identification in case of emergencies

l Ride at a safe and controlled pace and pass other users with care

l Cyclists should warn riders and walkers of their approach

l Fasten any gates that you open

l Stay on the route, don’t contaminatewater and take your litter home

l Horse riders should consider carrying a collapsible bucket for water and a protective Equiboot in case of lost shoes

l Check website for under construction/news updates
