Welcome to Term 3
Whilst on the topic of community, I was very pleased to see our’s
come together at the PCS Combined Staff Meeting on Monday at
Pittwater High School. Staff from the thirteen PCS schools heard a
wonderful presentation by acclaimed Director, and award winning
actor, John Bell.
As founder of The Bell Shakespeare Company, John reminded us
through his incredible passion of Shakespeare the importance of
literacy in all areas of today’s schooling curriculum.
Year 8 Report Distribution
Year 8, Semester One Reports were issued on Tuesday of this
week. Who could think of a better way to begin the school
term! Throughout the day students were given the opportunity
to discuss results and analyse their report in a constructive
manner with senior Barrenjoey teaching staff
The Semester One Reports for the 126 Year 8 students, with
a mean Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.7 were very pleasing
with a number of individual highlights.
I hope everyone had a restful semester break. Welcome to Term 3, a highly significant term as it
starts the second semester of schooling and a great chance to learn from the lessons of last
term while reinforcing the things that we already do well. Perhaps it is more important for Year
12 students as it is their last term at Barrenjoey before the HSC. Regardless of where this term
sits in your ‘educational timeline’ we can all benefit from helping each other. If we are to
genuinely call ourselves a community school then we must be there for each other and assist those who need it and refrain from hindering others as we strive to be our best.
24 students received a GOLD Principal’s Award by achieving a GPA of 4.3 or above.
40 students received a SILVER Principal’s Award by achieving a GPA of 3.8 or above.
58 students received a REC (Respect, Effort, Challenge) award by having 100% of their profile
as Always or Usually participating in their learning.

Last Term Barrenjoey High Year 7 students were lucky enough to have a man called Bob Withey
come in and teach us about reptiles. All of year 7 loved it very much and learnt a lot of new
things about reptiles. Bob brought in a few of his little friends, 5 snakes, an Olive Python, a
Taipan, a Red-Bellied Black snake, a Brown Snake and last of the snakes, the Tiger Snake. Bob
also brought in a few Lizards for us, one of them, the Blue Tongued Lizard. And finally, he
brought in his little turtle, the type that can swim. He didn’t just talk about the ones he brought in,
he also told us about other reptiles, like a tortoise.
Bob was very nice and I’m sure I speak for everyone in year 7 that we all enjoyed it very much.
Plus we got a juice and Oreos at the end.
