Welcome

According to the European Biomass AssociationAEBIOM, global pellet production rose to a total of24.5 million metric tons in 2013, a figure 14 timeshigher than the levels recorded in 2000. The mainsales region for pellets is and remains the EU,

which accounts for around 80% of the market, followed by NorthAmerica with a share of 12%.

The development of growth in both the main sales areas andinteresting upcoming markets acts as a key focus of the 14th PelletsIndustry Forum. At the conference, experts will report on the latestmarket developments in Germany, Italy, France, United Kingdom,Greece, and the USA. The status quo of political and energy industryframeworks and their impact on the German and European boilerand stove markets will be examined in further presentations, as willdevelopments in the European fuel market. Political frameworks, rising energy costs, and growing competition will also enlivendiscussions on energy efficiency measures in pellets production. Thistopic is therefore also gaining its own dedicated session within theconference.

As pellet quality is vital to the development of the heating market, this year's Pellets Industry Forum will be supplemented by twoevents on ENplus certification. The German Wood Fuel and PelletAssociation is organizing an ENplus-Conference to present thecertificate's development, implementation and marketing inGerman-speaking regions. In parallel, the European Pellet Councilis holding its 3rd International ENplus Auditors' Workshop in Munich.

In addition to providing expert knowledge in presentations, the twoconference days also contain plenty of scope for talks, discussions, and networking.

I look forward to welcoming you to this international pellets industrymeeting in Munich.

The ENplus certification program guarantees the quality of woodpellets along the whole supply chain, from the pellet productionplant to the end customer gate. Today, around 200 producers and300 traders located in 31 countries are ENplus certified. By the endof 2014, around 6.5 million tons of the pellets produced worldwidewere ENplus certified, which represents around 60 % of the EUpellet consumption used for domestic heating.

The ENplus certification is managed by the European Pellet Council(EPC, www.pelletcouncil.eu), an umbrella organisation made up ofnational pellet associations. The ENplus certification process ishandled independently by certification, inspection and testingbodies.

In order to carry out the ENplus audits, the inspection bodies haveto get their auditors properly trained and informed. For this purpose,EPC is organising every year an ENplus auditor’s workshop in orderto inform the auditors on the ENplus requirements and to shareexperience.

This workshop concerns only the ENplus auditors and will beorganised this year in addition to the 14th Industry Pellet Forum onJune 12, 2015 in Munich.
