COMMON AND UNCOMMON SHUNT LESIONS

Hands on Heart : Is a pediatric cardiology group and is dedicated to the care of children with heart disease in a "patient" and "passionate" way. This group comprises of paediatric cardiologists and paediatric echocardiographers.Treating - Teaching – Telemedicine are our three tiers of the group.

WHAT DOES THIS MODULE COVER ?This module will initially focus on the differences between pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary vascular resistance and how to approach pulmonary hypertension associated with congenital heart disease. The module will then cover common shunts seen in childhood: the ventricular septal defect (VSD) and the atrial septal defect (ASD). These shunts will be discussed in detail, including their timing and mode of intervention. Other rarer shunts like AV canal, aortopulmonary window, rupture of sinus of Valsalva and right pulmonary artery from aorta will also be included. It will be an interactive session like the previous two modules, with cases, exercises in the work sheets and quiz.
