3.0 GENERAL3.1 General1. Lattice boom pedestal cranes shall be:a. Self contained.b. Diesel driven.c. Hydraulically operated.d. Pedestal mounted.e. Furnished complete with cab and auxiliary equipment.f. Capable of simultaneous raising or lowering boom, rotating, and raising or lowering main or auxiliary (fast) line.g. Capable of lifting, rotating, luffing, slewing and lowering loads at capacities, radii, speeds, and onboard/offboard conditions as specified in data sheets, specifications, and drawings per MAC-DR-7.01. Load radii shall be measured from center of pedestal to center of hook.h. Designed and constructed in accordance with API Spec 2C, Type C, Type D, or Type E.i. Designed for a humid salty offshore atmosphere.j. Rated for 24 hour per day duty.k. Able to sustain inertia loads resulting from combinations of maximum specified loads.l. Designed for transocean shipment.m. Designed to withstand seismic forces.

2. Replacement of major mechanical components, such as engine, pumps, and hoists, and slew bearings shall not require assistance from another crane. Crane shall have supplemental rigging hardware necessary to remove/replace these items and lower them to platform deck.3. Countries of origin for crane and structural steel materials shall be limited to United States, Japan, Germany, and Great Britain.4. Traceability of materials shall comply with API Spec 2C and the specified third party approver.5. Crane pedestal, main platform, shall be welded construction in accordance with technical requirements.6. Recommendations for hinge pins and sheave pins shall be submitted by Manufacturer.3.2 Major ComponentsMajor components of lattice boom pedestal cranes shall include:1. Pedestal and pedestal adaptor (transition piece).2. Swing bearing assembly (or Pintel bearing assembly).3. Main platform (with integral hydraulic oil and fuel tanks).4. Enclosed acoustically insulated cab and air conditioned.5. Crane boom - fixed length sections.6. Boom hoist winch (with brake) and required wire rope.7. Load capacity/working radius plaque/ API 2C information chart.21. Maintenance jib with hoist for removing diesel power pack, winches, etc.22. Wind sock.3.3 Certification1. Crane shall be certified to meet applicable regulations (U.S. Coast Guard, etc.).2. Certification agency shall be subject to Purchaser approval.3. Costs associated with obtaining certification shall be included in Supplier pricing.3.4 CalculationsDesign and calculations shall be developed to guarantee component construction and system performancein accordance with this specification, drawings, standards, and other Purchaser supplied information including a failure mode assessment in accordance with API 2C, Section 4.6.3.5 Design Load Ratings1. Marine cranes shall be designed and fabricated to provide load capacities at indicated load radii and speeds as stated on MAC-DS-7.01.2. Crane shall be suitable for handling specified load at environmental loading conditions.3. Load ratings shall be based on net hook loads and shall not be reduced by weights of load blocks, line, and hook itself.4. Onboard/offboard and personnel rated loads as defined in API Spec 2C shall be determined from these load capacities, together with the following design loading conditions specified onMAC-DS-7.01:a. Control rods, linkages, and other items requiring lubrication or service shall be easily accessible.3.7 Accessibility1. Components shall be easily accessible for maintenance and repairs.2. Enclosed and have positive means of lubrication.b. Replaceable without removal of the hoist.3.9 Lubrication1. Moving contact points of hoists and drives shall be adequately lubricated.2. Lifetime lubricated bearings shall not require means of external lubrication.3. Sheave pins and hinge pins shall have stainless steel grease fittings.3.10 Safety in Design1. Components, including ladders, handrails, walkways, and platform guards, shall be designed for maximum personnel safety protection in accordance with SID-SU-5106, including:a. Adequate access to components and instruments for repairs and replacement.a. Ability to observe instruments and operate manual components while standing at grade adjacent to packaged system.b. Ability to lubricate operating equipment without removal of guards, piping, or other components.c. Sufficient instrumentation for safe operation and monitoring.d. Electrical equipment, wiring, and controls suitable for area of classification specified.2. Solid metal or expanded metal guards shall be installed for protection of personnel from hazards of mechanical moving parts, hot surfaces, and chemical sprays such that maximum exposed (unguarded) clearance between guard and hazard is less than or equal to 1/2 inch or as noted in SID-SU-5106. Screen and plastic guards shall not be acceptable.3. Relief valves shall comply with all codes and standards. These valves shall be set to operate at maximum of stated design pressure and not less than 110% of pump discharge pressure.4. Products containing asbestos or lead shall be prohibited.3.11 ProposalsProposals shall include:1. Completed data sheet (MAC-DS-7.01) with Supplier information.2. Design data, including:a. Load radius charts.b. Description and basic specifications for engine and hydraulic power pack.

c. Design rates for luffing, slewing, main hoist and whip hoist.d. Safety locking device details.e. Lattice boom details.f. Pedestal bearing details.g. Electrical system details.h. Safe failure mode assessment in accordance with API 2C, Section 4.6.3.12 Guarantee1. Pedestal crane shall be guaranteed to meet specified performance requirements at specified environmental conditions, including:a. Load capacityb. Rope speedc. Hoisting speedd. Swing speed2. Supplier shall correct deficiencies concerning its equipment to achieve specified lifting requirements.3. Correction of deficiencies shall be at sole cost and expense of Supplier.

4.0 BOOM4.1 GeneralBoom shall be:1. Sectionalized lattice type design fabricated from angle or tubular steel2. Of welded construction3. Seal welded4.2 Boom Length1. Required boom length (center of boom foot pin to center of boom point sheave) shall be as defined on data sheet, MAC-DS-7.01.Jib length for fast line shall be minimum of 4 feet (1.22 m).4.3 Bolts and Pins1. Boom sections shall be bolted together.2. Boom shall be attached to main deck using stainless steel foot pins.3. Boom connections shall have grease fittings.4.4 Boom Attachments1. Load line guides shall be provided to prevent lines from contacting boom members.2. Shock absorbing mechanical spring boom stops shall be provided on revolving structure for contact with boom in extreme up position.3. Mechanical load radius pendulum shall be mounted on side of boom within operator visibility.4. Boom shall have nonmetallic cable wear plates.4.5 Sheaves1. Sheaves shall have roller bearings.2. Bushings shall not be acceptable.3. Dyform (nylon) sheaves will be considered.4. Forged steel sheaves with hardened grooves and tapered roller bearings shall be used for floating crane/drilling support applications.4.6 Boom Maintenance1. Boom maintenance shall include full length walkway with work platforms for servicing boom point equipment and other boom mounted equipment.2. Servicing items shall comply with guidelines as specified in SID-SU-5106.4.7 Boom Rest

Positional and load requirements for boom rest, including acceleration/inclination of the hoist facility, shall be provided by the Manufacturer.4.8 Mast StructureMast structure shall be completely seal welded.

5.0 OPERATOR CAB5.1 GeneralOperator cab shall be:1. All welded (100% both sides) reinforced carbon steel construction.2. Fully enclosed.3. Bolted to crane platform with vibration isolators.4. Adequately braced to prevent swaying or vibration under loads and conditions specified.5.2 Windows/Visibility1. Operator, while seated in operator seat, shall have 360 degree full vision through tinted safety glass on all sides.2. Forward visibility shall include vertical range to allow boom tip observation at all operating conditions.3. Controls and windows shall be arranged to permit straight down visibility from operator's seated position.4. Windows shall be tinted safety glass.5. Front window shall have center pivot section that can be easily opened for cleaning and/or removal.6. Positive safety latch shall be provided to prevent window closure when window is open.7. Windows shall be:a. Capable of being opened to provide cross ventilation.b. Mounted in such a way as to be easily removable.8. Front and top windows shall have windshield wiper.5.3 Doors1. Operator cab door shall have positive latching arrangement and weather stripping.2. Rear sides shall have full height and full width hinged or latched access doors for machinery removal and maintenance.5.4 Cab Equipment1. Cab shall include:a. Pneumatic windshield wipers and window defrosterb. Alarm hornc. Hydraulic and engine switches and instrumentationd. Acoustical insulatione. Air conditioner/heaterf. CO2 fire extinguishersg. Stainless steel API Spec 2C load/radius and information chartsh. Interior lights with dimmeri. Two 115/1/60 spare outletsj. Main power circuit breakerk. Swivel type all weather cushioned operators seat with backrestl. Joystick crane operating controlsm. Tool boxn. MIPEG 2000R load and radius indicator2. Air conditioner/heater shall be sized to provide inside cab temperature of 70°F (21°C) at maximum ambient temperature and 85°F (29°C) at minimum ambient temperature.5.5 Gantry Cranes1. On gantry type cranes, caged ladder shall be installed on gantry to permit access to gantry sheaves and to boom rope deadeye.2. Top of gantry shall have a platform to allow for access to both sides of gantry sheaves.

3. Crane gantry shall have maintenance jib in gantry for servicing winches and engine.6.0 ACCESS PLATFORM6.1 General1. Crane shall have complete platform and ladder arrangement to permit operator access to cab from deck.2. Platform shall extend across rear side of operator cab.3. Both sides of cab shall have access openings in handrails.4. Platforms and ladders shall have as required to meet safety requirements:a. Toeboardsb. Handrails with safety gatesc. Cagesd. Hoopguards5. Main platform shall have handrails, built-in drip pans, fuel and hydraulic oil tanks, operatingcab, and hydraulic power pack.6. Platforms, ladders, and walkways shall comply with OSHA safety requirements.7. Ladders, steps, and landings shall be provided where access to rigging (including gantry and winches) is necessary.9. Ladder shall be installed to permit access from crane access platform to work platform around engine. Ladder rungs shall be constructed using 3/4-inch smooth bar.10. Ladders, handrails, and gates shall be hot dipped galvanized and painted after fabrication.6.2 Crane Access Ladder1. Revolving crane access ladder shall be positioned to rotate tangentially near crane pedestal such that ladder cannot hit personnel if crane swings.2. Ladder cages shall be provided if either of the following is true:a. It is possible for personnel to fall overboard from ladder.b. Ladder requires more than total 10-foot vertical descent to platform grade.3. Rotating equipment that may come in contact with personnel (winches, chain/belt drives, fans, etc.) shall have guards.6.3 Grating1. Crane walkway shall have removable grating panels that shall be:a. Attached using 5/16 inch galvanized grating clips at 2 foot maximum spacing on supports.b. Of standard galvanized 1 inch x 3/16 inch serrated bars.2. Selected grating sections shall be provided directly outside cab access door if required for visibility.3. Bolted access covers shall be provided for access to interior of base structure.4. Removable panels provided below crane platform for service access shall be accessible from pedestal access platform.5. Deck shall be covered with coating as specified in COM-SU-2.02.

7.0 SWING SYSTEM7.1 General1. Design, testing, and material traceability of swing circle assembly shall comply withAPI Spec 2C, Section 8.0.2. Main frame support bearing or Pintel shall be capable of rotating 360 degrees and stoppingand locking at any position.3. Maximum swing rotation speed shall be in accordance with Table 1. The maximum possible boon tip rotation speed shall not exceed 800 feet per minute with the boon in the horizontal position

Swing mechanism shall be capable of smooth starts and stops, with controllable rates of acceleration and deceleration.7. Crane shall be free to swing with swing control in neutral position to allow boom to track load.8. Swing circle assembly shall be roller bearing, ball bearing, pad bearing, or king post design.9. Structural members subject to repeated stress cycles shall be designed for resistance to structural fatigue degradation.7.2 MotorRotation shall be provided by hydraulic motor and planetary gear reducer capable of smooth starts and stops at varying acceleration and deceleration speeds.7.3 Braking System7.3.1 Dynamic Swing Brake1. Dynamic swing brake system shall be provided.2. Hydraulic cross control of joysticks shall provide hydraulic dynamic braking.7.3.2 Parking BrakeParking brake shall:1. Have holding power in both directions to restrain movement but not to retard motion of upper structure.2. Be controlled by operator at operating station and be capable of remaining in engaged position without attention.3. Not automatically engage if swing control is returned to neutral position.4. Be mechanical, spring set, pressure released.5. Lock rotation of crane through swing drive mechanism in any position.7.4 BoltsBolts that connect swing bearing to pedestal or crane upper structure shall be:1. Equally spaced over 360 degree mounting circumference.2. Prestressed to level that precludes relief of preload in the most heavily loaded fastener at 80% of the Safe Working Load (SWL) multiplied by the Vertical Design Coefficient (Cv).3. Permanently marked with fastener manufacturer identification mark and SAE, ASTM, or ISO grade material.4. Accessible without removal of other equipment.5. Positively restrained from rotation if not accessible for inspection.7.5 Bearings1. Bearings supporting rotation shall be sleeve or antifriction type.2. Antifriction bearings shall be selected in accordance with ABMA Standard 9 and Standard 11 and shall have L-10 life exceeding equivalent of 25,000 hours.3. Antifriction bearings shall be of suitable size for loads and speeds specified.

8.0 HOISTS, ROPE, BLOCKS8.1 Hoists8.1.1 General1. Crane base shall have the following hydraulically operated cable drum hoists:a. Boom hoistb. Primary load hoistc. Auxiliary (fast line) hoist2. Hoists shall be:

a. Fail safe hydraulic design with automatic braking in event of engine failure or loss of hydraulic pressure.b. Powered through self centered planetary type gear reduction certified for personnel handling.c. Readily accessible with wire rope reeved.d. Maintainable without use of special tools.e. Equipped with means to check lubricant and coolant levels.3. Hoists that use circulating fluid for lubrication or cooling shall have means to check fluid level while in operation.4. Hoists that use closed lubrication system shall have fluid capacity of at least 120% of manufacturer minimum recommended operating level.5. Exposed moving parts that may constitute a hazard during normal operating conditions shall be guarded.6. Filled drums shall not exceed 80% of drum capacity.7. Boom hoist shall be capable of supporting boom and 150% of static load within minimum and maximum boom angles.8. Design shall allow lowering of boom with specified loads from minimum operating radius to horizontal position in 2-minutes or less.9. Load hoists shall have hook speeds at water level in accordance with API 2C, Section 4.3.3 based on significant wave height.10. Hoist drums shall be mounted on antifriction bearings.11. Hoists shall be capable of infinitely variable speed control and full reversing characteristics for power lowering.12. Main and auxiliary load and boom hoists shall have manual emergency lowering.13. Hydraulic kickout device shall prevent boom from lowering further than minimum boom horizontal position.8.1.2 Brakes1. Brakes and clutches shall have adjustments to compensate for wear and to maintain adequate spring force.2. Static brakes shall be provided to hold drum from rotating in lowering direction and shall be capable of holding rated load indefinitely without attention from operator.3. Brakes shall be automatically applied upon return of control handle to center (neutral) position.4. Brakes shall have sufficient impact capacity to hold 1.5 times rated torque of hoist.5. Boom hoist brake shall be drum wrap around type. Drum brake mechanism shall be spring set with hydraulic power release.6. Boom hoist shall additionally have pawl or ratchet safety holding device.8.1.3 Safety and Limiting Devices1. Hoists shall have device to lower load in event of power supply failure.2. Hoists shall be designed to control descent of load by controlling flow from hydraulic drive motor attached directly to hoist.3. Control device shall:a. Be connected directly to outlet port of motor.b. Require positive pressure from power source to release.c. Actuate automatically to bring hoist or cylinder to smooth stop in event of control or motive power loss.4. Hoists designed to control descent of load or boom by controlling speed of hoist drive input shall be capable of smoothly stopping 110% of rated load during lowering at maximum speed.5. Main, auxiliary, and boom hoists shall each have safety device that prevents load block or headache ball from two blocking into boom point sheaves if hoisting or booming down.6. Anti-two blocking device shall be of mechanical or hoist encoder type.7. Positive, auxiliary holding device shall be provided to prevent unintentional lowering of boom during maintenance and shall be manually engaged by Operator at the boom hoist.

8. If boom approaches minimum operating radius, hydraulic boom hoist shall have limiting device that:a. Disengages power to boom hoist.b. Applies boom hoist brake.9. With hydraulic boom hoist limiting device engaged, main and auxiliary load lines and swing mechanism shall remain operable.10. Boom hoist limiting device shall allow operator to boom down immediately, without override intervention.11. Crane shall have hydraulic low angle kickout set at maximum operating radius as indicated on load chart.12. Low angle kickout shall have override system to allow placing boom tip on platform deck to permit boom changeout and maintenance activities.13. Mechanical boom stops shall have shock absorbing bumpers in accordance with API Spec 2C.8.2 Wire Rope1. Loading hoisting cable shall be mill certified multi strand, extra improved plow steel (EIPS) wire rope, with independent wire rope core (IWRC) as recommended for crane service and marine environment.2. Wire ropes shall not be galvanized unless applied to individual strands.3. Hoist rope for main and auxiliary blocks shall be non-rotating wire rope.4. Boom hoist shall use standard API wire rope and shall be continuously reeved without the use of a pendant and bridle.5. Welding procedures and welder qualifications shall be subject to Purchaser approval prior to starting fabrication.3. Welds shall be seal welded to prevent corrosion.12.3 Pedestal Adaptor12.3.1 Description1. Crane shall have pedestal adaptor that shall be welded to platform pedestal.2. Adaptor shall fit platform support structure as detailed on engineering design drawings furnished by Purchaser.3. Support structure drawings shall be examined and certified that design is satisfactory to match pedestal adaptor.4. If changes are necessary, marked up drawings detailing changes shall be submitted to Purchaser for approval.5. Purchaser approval of changes shall be required prior to fabrication of pedestal adaptor.12.3.2 Design1. Pedestal/king post adaptor (or transition piece) shall be designed to withstand maximum forces transmitted under loads as specified.2. 15.0 NOISE1. Sound level testing shall be performed on crane after fabrication in accordance with NCM-DU-23.01.2. Noise level at crane operator station shall not exceed maximum allowable noise level of 75 dB(A) for exposure period of 3 hours per 12-hour work day.

16.0 PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT16.1 General1. Crane unit, excluding boom, shall be pre assembled prior to delivery and capable of being lifted in one piece for platform installation.2. Supplier shall be responsible for crane equipment and related components for shipment and loadout.3. Equipment shall be assembled to maximum extent possible in Supplier facility prior to shipment.4. Crane shall be shipped with:a. Full hydraulic reservoir.b. Engine oil and coolant reservoirs filled in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.5. Operating instructions and label plates shall be in place and legible and shall have not been obscured during painting operations.

Connections shall have thread protectors or flange blanks to prevent damage during shipping and handling.2. Items subject to damage or corrosion shall be protected.3. Tape shall not be used on glass or clear plastic.4. Instruments and other sensitive components shall be covered with polyethylene bags to ensure adequate protection.5. Equipment components shall be properly protected and braced for marine transport.6. Protection shall be provided against atmospheric corrosion while in transit and while in outdoor storage.7. Openings and flange faces shall be protected with wood or metal covers and sealed with waterproof removable tape.8. Engines to be stored for long periods shall have engine protectant as recommended by engine manufacturer.9. Threaded connections shall be treated with Kopr-Shield antiseizing compound or Purchaser approved equal.16.3 Ship Loose1. Miscellaneous parts, including subplatform ladder assembly and handrails, shall be tagged or marked with tag item number for which they are intended. Such parts shall be suitably boxed, firmly attached to main item, and shipped with unit.2. Purchaser reserves right to advise, at final inspection, of items removed for shipping purposes.3. Ship loose items shall be crated for protection prior to shipment.4. Loose items shall be properly tagged to facilitate reassembly.5. Hose connections and hose assembly ends shall be marked correspondingly to facilitate field assembly.
