DefinitionAdapted Physical Education is an
individualized program including physical and motor fitness, fundamental motor skills and patterns, skills in aquatics and dance, and individual and group games and sports designed to meet the unique needs of individuals.
Adapt = to adjust
Child with disabilitiesA child with mental retardation, hearing
impairment including deafness, speech or language impairment, visual impairment including blindness, serious emotional disturbance, orthopedic impairment, autism, traumatic brain injury, learning disability, deafblindness, or multiple disabilities or other health impairments that require special education and related services.
Developmental delays1. experiencing developmental delays in
cognitive development, physical development, communication development, social or emotional development or adaptive development.
2. a diagnosed physical or mental condition that has a high probability of resulting in developmental delay.
