ABOUT THE PLAY.

Growing up has never been easy, and Beverly Shatto's award-winning play Peck's Bad Girls which is making its world premiere at SJSU, deals with the special problems facing women in the decades of the 60's and 70's. The journey from high school to middle age is filled with laughter and tears as seven women attempt to deal with the sexual revolution, marriage, motherhood, drugs, alcohol, the loss of innocence of America, and their own changing relationships.

ABOUT THE- DIRECTOR ... DIANE SOL. actress and director, is this semester's

artist-In-residence for the SJSU Theatre Arts Depart­ment. Ms. Sol received her B.S. in Theatre-Speech from Ball State University. her M.A. from Indiana Uni­versi ty and is presently completing her Ph.D. from the University of California. Davis. Her versatile back­ground includes touring west~rn Europe as a musi­cian for the U.S. Government; living in Israel for e1ght years as an actress. director. and teacher; making documentaries for public television, a soap for cable TV. industrial films for companies. and commercials. While at SJSU Ms. Sol is not only directing the world premiere of Peck's Bad Girls. but is also teaching courses in Voice and Diction. Advanced Acting. and TV Acting. The Theatre Arts Department is honored to have Ms. Diane Sol as a part of the faculty.

Kathleen Woods- Kathleen is currently working to attain her M.F.A. in directing. She received her B.A. in Dramatic Arts from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta. Georgia. where she participated in every phase of theatre work. She has directed over thirty productions including The Glass Menagerie. David and Lisa. and The Music Man. Her most recent directing project. The Author of the Iliad is Either Homer; or. if not Homer. Somebody Else of the Same Name. was performed here in early February.

Kate Abila (Kacki) is a junior Theatre Arts maJor from San Leandro. Ca. Her stage credits include roles in Ondine. Antigone. They Shoot Horses Don't They. and most recently. Defimtely Eric Geddis. Future plans include a move to New York.

Deborah Ann Norman (Judy) has acted in The Country Wife. Xt. Deb .. Salve Regina. Slow Dance on the Killing Ground. and When ya Comin Back Red Ryder. She will soon be in To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday w ith the San Jose Repertory Company. for which she also works in the administrative department.

Karen Wilson (Marsha) is working towards her M.F.A. in acting. Besides teaching Oral Expression. she has been on stage in Antigone and Definitely Eric Geddis and will soon be seen in The Hollow Crown and Cabaret. Karen has also acted at Dominican College of San Rafael where she received her B.A., the Drama Studio London at Berkeley. and at Hayward State University.

lisa Blakeslee (Dink). a junior. has appeared in Rimers of Eldritch and Uncommon Women with By Popular Demand Theatre Ensemble. She has stage managed productions for SJSU and Theatre Ensemble of San Jose. and is currently a lighting intern for San Jose Repertory Company.

Jennifer York (Barbara) hails from Peoria, Il l. and enjoys singing. guitar. and weight lifting. She has acted in Terra Nova. St. Deb. I Remember Mama. Mousetrap. and Stage Door. She also finds time to work in the marketing department at Altos Computer Systems.

Elisa Camahort (Trudy) will begin working toward her Equity membership this summer at the Barn Theatre in Michigan. She will be graduating from SJSU in May and plans a move to New York in September. She has acted in Xt. Deb. The Country Wife, Fiddler on the Roof, and Grease. Look for her in Cabaret.

Sandy Efseaff Benster (Kay) holds a B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University, a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Baylor University, and has attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army. She is currently working toward a B.A. in Theatre Arts. She has appeared in The Male Animal and Definitely Eric Geddis as well professionally in the San Francisco Children's Opera and Stanford Theatre.
