The proposal

Progress and achievement During the period of this course, I have learnt a numerous amount of things ranging from learning how to use programs I haven't even heard of before, such as adobe premier and after effects. I have always been interested in film/television, and now given the skills needed to create such things, I now have a better analytical understanding of the work, and the processes involved in making it.

Very proud of this piece, as it has personal importance to me, and shows the transition I am planning to make from the work I was able to create at the start of the course, to the standard of work I hope to create with this FMP.

Ideas and concepts For this project, I have come up with many ideas and concepts showing research andanalysis, such as notes, and inspiration derived from random stories in my life. For this project, I was told to try and dive into my past and use it as an advantage.Here are a few ideas and concepts I had for the coming project and how I have lookedInto the possibility of making them:

1.) A dilemma. A man is at work, when he gets a call with the news that his wife had gone into labor. Hearing this, the man rushes to the hospital, yet on the way out of excitement and adrenaline, he isn't looking at the road, and runs over a small child…(should he drive on and ignore it not to miss the birth of his child, or stop and face the consequences.)

Ideas and concepts• 2.) Another concept was to look into my Romanian background, and make a documentary/short film,

about the three pathways of life Romanian immigrants take when leaving the country and entering the UK. The three pathways as follows: 1) To make an honest living, build a family, or bring back money for

• Family.• 2) To beg for money on the street.• 3) To steal, and get involved with crime.

• I was hoping to make a short film where there are three Romanian men, from each of the pathways of life, that somehow come together at the end of the film, where it ends with all three men being in the exact location, at the exact same time.

• 3.) This concept is based on certain events in my life, mixed in with the focus of influential behavior, and innocence. My idea was to look into the cause and effects of certain drugs, and how it effects the lives of the people that take them, and the people that they care about.

Ideas and concepts• 4.) With this concept, I wanted to focus mainly on the idea of innocence in children, and the importance of

life. I was going to make this in the format of a 3 minute long film, shot in black and white, of a child and his grandpa.

• 5.) I wanted to recreate a music video for a song that one of my colleagues at work have created. A video already exists or this song, but I'm hoping I can explain more about the song with my video.

At this point, I am having trouble deciding what the song is actually about, because I haven't listened • to the lyrics enough to get the message of the song, but my interpretation of the song, is that’s its about

friendship, or the social acceptance of homosexuality. (link: http://youtu.be/dF6SOF7GTkU )

• 6.) Another concept would be, a man and woman in bed together. The man gets up, and goes to the bathroom. Whilst he is washing, the woman calls for a taxi, asking for someone to pick her up. She tells the taxi company her address, with the operator telling her she couldn't’ be at that address, because the operator at the taxi company was the wife, of the man in the bathroom. So this woman finds out, that she is the mistress of this man. I find this an interesting scenario, and I would love to experiment with this concept of honesty.

EvaluationOut of all the Ideas I have listed, the three that interest me the most, are the 1st, 3rd, and 5th ideas. Mainly because I think there is a lot to learn from these ideas, due to the amount of work I would have to put in to get my desired result. Most of not all of my ideas will probably need script, apart from the music video, but I want to take this as an opportunity to learn something I have very rarely tired.

For inspiration, I have watched short films like ‘’The Black Hole’’, which is a short film about greed. ( the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5_Msrdg3Hk ) I would like to take inspiration from this film in particular, because I've found that the films I have made in the past, lack the presence of the message I'm trying to put across to the viewer.

I find that this is a really good example of how I can change that, which is one of the many things I am sure to improve on in the following weeks.
