Feedback from an Independent Training Provider on the Level 3 Award…

‘We thoroughly enjoy delivering this award. As a training provider we truly believe that this learning programme has the ‘light bulb’ effect. It is pitched at just the right level for anyone who doesn’t teach but has an interest in teaching and also for those who are doing some training/teaching as part of their job.

It is awesome and extremely satisfying to see learners grow in confidence from understanding how learning occurs to trying new teaching strategies and activities to believing they can become inspirational teachers/trainers within their chosen subject and career path.’

Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (QCF) Prepares trainee teachers to teach in a range of contexts. There is a practice requirement which will assess and provide evidence of, competence when undertaking teaching and/or training responsibilities.

Pearson BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (QCF)

Topics include:

• the delivery of teaching or training

• planning to meet the needs of learners

• assessing learners

• using resources in education and training

To achieve the certificate, learners must complete teaching practice that requires observation and assessment of performance.

Reflective Assessment Approach Through a reflective practice approach to assessment, learners will understand how to teach and train and be inspired to make learning more engaging.

One of the benefits to the reflective practice approach means that learners can submit a range of assessment evidence to demonstrate their learning skills. From practical and creative evidence such as recordings of professional discussions shown via YouTube or Skype, to formal written activities; these are just some of the examples that can form part of their evidence-based portfolio.

As part of the qualifications, learners will undertake a micro-teach, which will equip them with experience required to facilitate learning. By observing others micro-teach sessions learners can reflect on their own practice and improve their quality of teaching.

We are committed to providing advice and guidance about our range of BTEC Education and Training qualifications available to centres. We’ll be on hand to make sure you’re supported through the different stages of the assessment process so you can ensure your learners are on track to meet the required standards.

which will help to motivate your learners and bring classroom theory to life. These will be made available to registered and delivering centres from September 2014.
