NOTES & REMINDERS
New Principal
The JH/HS will have a new principal for the 2020-2021 school year, due to Dr. Mandrell taking a Supt. position in another district. On Feb. 19
th the school board approved the hiring of
Ben Asche as the 2020-2021 JH/HS principal. Mr. Ben Asche grew up in Freeport and has spent most of his career in the Freeport School Dist. Mr. Asche has been a principal for three years, two in the Freeport School Dist. and one in the West Carroll Sch. Dist. He will bring a lot of knowledge on curriculum, discipline, and data analysis to the PC School Dist. Mr. Asche will be starting on July 1st, however, he plans to attend events throughout the remainder of the school year.
English/Reading/Writing Review
There is a committee of teachers and administrators that are reviewing the current ELA curriculum. The committee is looking into different vendors in order to find the best way to meet the needs of all of the students. The next step will be to narrow down the selection and to start piloting some of the lessons in the next school year.
Working Cash Bond
The working cash bond has been finalized and the district now begins to look into some of the Maintenance Projects that will be funded by the bond. The first project is the parking lot and then next summer (2021) the district will be looking to repair the roofs. The district has also applied for a Maint. Grant that will help offset some of the cost. To see the complete bond resolu-tion you can go to the district website or click on the link below.
