History
• The Peace and Freedom Party is a ballot-listed minor political party
• Founded June 23, 1967
• Party name was created by David Kolodney
• Peace and freedom party expanded due to unhappiness with Democratic Party’s support for the war in Vietnam
• Democratic Party’s failure to support the civil rights movement added to the peace and freedom party popularity.

The Peace and Freedom Party endorsed Ralph Nader for President in
the 2008 U.S. Presidential election

levels• A federal law requiring and funding equal

services• No school voucher schemes
Taxes• Remove property taxes on modest owner-
occupied homes• Repeal the sales tax• Restore the renters’ credit tax• Tax unearned income at a higher rate than
earned income• Eliminate/reverse income tax on low and
moderate income families• Re-enact California's unitary tax on multi-
national corporations. • Tax the business activities of churches on the
same basis as other organizations.
Energy/Environment
• Create public open spaces in all communities• Tighter regulation of pesticides, herbicides,
industrial wastes, genetically modified foods to protect human food
• Multi-source energy system (solar technology and non polluting energy sources)
• Protect species habitat• Free public transportation• International trade agreements to protect the
environment in all participating countries• End environmental racism
Foreign Policy
• No U.S. intervention anywhere • Renounce nuclear first strike, to take the
first steps toward global disarmament• Stop all U.S. arms exports and trade• Dissolve all military pacts• Convert from military to peaceful
production• Abolish the Selective Service System• No weapons in space
Women
• Adoption of an equal rights amendment
• Equal pay for equal work, work of comparable worth
• Enforce non-discrimination in hiring
• Free abortion on demand! Along with no forced abortions or sterilizations
• Safe prenatal care
• End violence against women
Health Care• Free, high quality health care for everyone• Eliminate for-profit health care• Medical facilities to provide services and
education in low-income neighborhoods• More research into diseases and disorders
caused by man-made substances • Special attention to
preventing epidemics of communicable diseases, such as AIDS
