UK Skaters of the Year for UK Season 2016-17 During the season, points were earned at 6 competitions around the country with the leader in each category being awarded ‘Skater of the Year’ Congratulations to Jack Urquhart Junior C Boys, Sophie Roberston Junior D Girls, Ben Roberts Junior A+B Boys and Isabelle Roberts, Junior A+B Grils who were named ‘Skater of the Year’ this season.

British Championships and World Masters Championships Sheffiled held the Masters International Short Track Games in April. Simon Cheetham, Adam Brown, Chris Murray and Malgorzata Sukiennik competed with over 90 Masters skaters. During this event our coaches Mandy and Peter Worth were presented with a special award to recognise their massive contribution to UK Short Track Speed Skating.

Nottingham skaters at European Star Class Once again we had many skaters competing in the European Star Class series this season. Many fine performances this year, including qualification for the Europa Cup Finals and an overall 12th in Europe for Sophie Robertson (Junior Ladies D), and Isabelle Roberts (Ladies Junior A), and a 5th for Jack Burrows (Men Junior A).

NIRC Skater sets new British Records Freddie Polak has topped a great season with new British Records in the PeeWee Boys class. He set new standards for the 333m (36.095s) and 500m (53.032s) in Trento, Italy. Fantastic skating!

Club Skaters join GB Academy Congratulatiojs to Kyle, Rose, Daniel, Talya, Isabelle, Natalie and Holly who joined the new GB Shortrack Speed Skating Academy this year, good luck!
