“Green” is the new luxury as environmentally friendly incentives reach beyond
design and finished apparel into materials. For S/S 11, directional material trade
shows like ModAmont, Munich Fabric Start, and Interstoff Asia placed significant
focus on eco-trims and accessories made from reused waste, organics and
recycled metals, plastics and textiles. Esquel Accessories and Packaging (EAP), a
pioneer of sustainable textile production and a subsidiary of the Esquel Group,
features its novelty line of eco-friendly trims.

Twice a year, EAP presents its trend-driven collection that includes a myriad of innovative, “green” trim solutions.
Recyclable plastic, fabric, paper / Organic cotton (GOTS) and linen / Alternative natural fibers like bamboo, stone,
bagasse / Biodegradable P-Life™ additive for controlled product lifespan / Water-dissolvable additives / Chlorine-
free / Green production, energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management

Chic labels come in recycled cotton. Every piece is unique, depending on the initial color of the reused fabric.
Recycled cotton from in-house cutting scrap and excess yarn; shorter fiber than virgin cotton; mainly cream or
grey hues / Recycled polyester from PET and other in-house plastic scrap; reduces use of standard yarn /
Organic GOTS-certified cotton reduces the use of pesticides and fertilizers; softer than virgin cotton

Bio-friendly ribbons are indistinguishable from conventional tapes. Recycled polyester imitates virgin polyester
while organic cotton, grown at Esquel!s own cotton farm, works well in elastic tape.
Recycled polyester/cotton blends / 30 to 100% organic cotton / Crochet, plain weave, twill, herringbone, satin,
braid, elastic

Ecologically correct buttons give “back-to-nature” appeal to garments.
Recycled polyester buttons from post-consumer and post-industrial waste; color variations due to initial resin
colors; less clarity than virgin polyester / Natural coconut, corozo, shell and mother-of-pearl buttons
Rich mineral paper (RMP)
Chlorine-free with soy ink 70% ECF bagasse fiber
Preventing deforestation, paper hangtags are made from alternative resources like stone powder, recycled paper
(post-consumer and -industrial) and bagasse fiber. Building upon this initiative, toxic chemicals and dyestuffs
have been eliminated.
Rich mineral paper (RMP) made from stone powder and non-toxic resins; heavy weight with cold feel / Totally
chlorine-free (TCF) paper / Elementally chlorine-free (ECF) paper bleached with a chlorine derivative / Bagasse
paper from sugarcane and sorghum residue
Water dissolvable PVA polybag P-life™ biodegradable bag
Recycled LDPE bag Recycled collar band P-life™ biodegradable brand seal
Packaging receives a “green” makeover with recycled materials for polybags, brand seals, collar bands and clips.
Items are set to decompose at a specific time using P-Life™ and to naturally dissolve in water.
P-life™ chemical additive controls lifespan of plastics and landfill waste; stronger than recycled plastic; for
polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) / Water-soluble plastic: polyvinyl alcohol
(PVA) added to plastic allows for decomposition when exposed to water; popular in Japan / Recycled low-density
polyethylene (LDPE)
